The meat tenderiser and cleaver are better weapons when you don't know how your opponent is equipped and/or when you didn't train yourself at length with a specific weapon. + the knife fight rule as you pointed out. Blunt weapons (or single direction weapons with weight, like an axe or a cleaver) are better weapons than knives. Even a saucepan (small, heavy bottom, elongated handle) is better to the untrained than a knife.

Well, this movie actually had a reasonable explanation for why the phones are down. Not like 99% of them where it just stops working for no reason, just because the plot needs it. So although I agree with your comment, this movie wasn't really the one that needed that critique in my opinion. Also, I have heard 911 calls where the operators feels more like they are working with the killers than with the victim, asking questions they have already answered while they are bleeding out. That's like a horror movie of it's own, hearing some operator telling you to speak more clearly while you are gurgling on your own blood..

Don't take out the glass, if it's that big and deep in her thigh she's going to bleed out before she can do anything else. Maybe once you've gotten safe inside she can take it out and make a makeshift tourniquet, but by the time she did in the movie she'd likely have bled out. There was no way to know if the glass had severed her femoral or not. Edit: Thank you for all the info and comments! I perhaps should not have said femoral, maybe just "major vein/artery" but I stick by what I said in terms of not pulling it out due to that reason. A puncture wound is also easily infected, so due to that as well, I still believe that leaving the glass in would be the safest bet.

True, I enjoyed the movie for the same reason, but it's also pretty unrealistic. She was only able to act that way because of her childhood. She was raised to think with a level head when everyone else is losing their shit. If you saw your family suddenly dying around you, you would definitely start to panic as your fight or flight response kicked in. Most people have zero idea of how to defend themselves or how to do so well, nevermind how to plan things in a way to control a bunch of people or to outsmart attackers.
