This resonates well with me. I dropped out of high school when I was 17. All the pressures and requirements laid on me paired with an extremely unstable and unsupportive family situation and a broken heart just was it for me. I couldn't fucking go on in school anymore I was already behind in the studies by almost a year anyway and there was so much on my mind that was more important for me to process at that time than pointless essays. Ofcourse I had no support or understanding for the choice of dropping out either so I ended up being homeless by that age. If it wasn't for my grandparents I'd probably be really bad off right now or even dead. Anyway I'm still weak sometimes, and my life and future is one huge uncertainty but I feel stronger than I ever was and I have set goals for myself that I strive toward. This is why I enjoy Elliots videos, the ideas he shares are sometimes reinsurance of my own mindset that helps motivate me further and sometimes new ideas and advice that I find supportive and aligned with my own state of mind. He truly does inspire me to become stronger! And no matter how hungry I am sometimes and how desperate and suicidal I get, I fucking enjoy being a lion! Peace!

You are not alone. I went through the same shit, except I had to live in my car for months. Some people's journey to become what is normal in this society...it takes longer. Don't doubt yourself or alienate yourself. AND DO NOT slip into coma of I just don't care for years. Find something to motivate you even when all the people around you are empty. good luck

To me this is what it means to be a real man Listen to your heart, push your comfort zone (develop will power) or slay the dragon, discover yourself and clarity of what you actually want through polarization(meaning do whatever the fuck you want), go slower and more intentionally, do not fear the future and concentrate on to be willing to deal with now, build and develop your own support system(job, friends,and habits that allow you to feel supported) ,and respect others as you respect yourself. “Learn the rules like a pro, so you can break them like an artist.” ― Pablo Picasso

Correct.....I've studied people and psychology (not through typical sterile classrooms) for many years. This evolved to actually doing my own testing of theories by tracking results of daily interactions with people. Now I can clearly see how often so many people are simply 'acting' virtually every minute while among others. Too much to detail, so to summarize, one main reason I found out was because so many are insecure. Acting daily will slowly have many negative effects on your ability to think. No wonder so many adults know so little. They are full of illogical opinions ( self validation that they aren't naive and clueless) and that's the beginning of the end for their brains, which they self programmed (unintentionally) to be handicapped. Sound crazy? I've learned to go about the right simple methods to find this out in an extremely objective manner. Used the same testing thousands of times with thousands of people. Now I know why so many commercials are so insulting to a real adults intelligence.....you bet your bippy marketing experts know all about this too! 'Adults'?......that's a relative term folks. But these clueless people certainly will always say they have a high opinion of themselves!.....thank goodness for opinions! They certainly have more than enough of that!....

Once i started listening to elliot i had a different perspective on life, & im just 15 years old. I am a 15 year old girl ending her sophomore year, i guess you could say my mentality is different from 'society' itself, I CANT do what i want or say no because i get scared, & i live with my mom who emotionally abuses me BUT i just can't find the freakin courage to defend myself/beliefs! Everyone tells me 'you HAVE to do this' or because its in the 'rule book' you HAVE to follow it because society does, or my mom will tell me im a FAILURE & worthless & should just quit school already because im failing my classes(btw i have junior classes;in my freshman year, i had sophomore classes) "why don't you just quit? Because you seem to not care about your future huh? Now you're not going to go to college or get a good job etc etc" or "you need money to pay your bills, to BE happy" or haha i love this one "Do you see anyone else doing what you're doing? " I seriously don't care what others think... Okay maybe a lil.. im surrounded by negativity & its pretty tough to get around that especially at a certain age & dealing with school etc. the thing is... I DON'T put other people down, I encourage others to give it their all, even if my life freakin sucks! & a lot of people like me do this! I love to question things! But then, society gets angry when you question! Right? I don't want to complain all day like my parents! I don't want to be miserable! But the in the flip am I suppose to do if im surrounded by idiots who won't let me?

+Ashlea Flores sometimes you just got to work with what you got. Just have to deal with it for now and formulate solutions to your problems and see if you can do anything about it. Just try to think of this time as a challenge for yourself to make you stronger and prepare you for the future. Keep working on yourself and things that you can control. You cant control your mom but you can control your attitude and your actions. Ask the right questions and you'll get the right answer.

Ashlea Flores I've been there. I was emotionally abused as a child and my mom would tell me things like " you're a worthless daughter" "you never take my side you"re a bitch" . At 18 I got out of there and moved out on my own and I've been on my own ever since. It's freeing. Just know that those comments are not true. They hurt but that doesn't made them true. Find friends that will be there for you (not for what you do). You're allowed to make mistakes. You're allowed to be who you are.

Camel stage is as necessary as the lion stage. To know what you don't want to do is also to know what you want to do. A lion driven by pure desire is a recipe for disaster. The burdens placed upon you when you were a camel should not be cast aside and forgotten, but instead should be used as a guide. You ever hated how strict your parents were when growing up, but 10 years down the road you look back and you are glad that they were that strict? Look at all the other ppl with slackers for parents...that's your answer right there. That's just my thought on this topic...and yes I too slayed that fucking dragon...shattered my parents expectations 10ish years ago and was never happier

I truly believe I manifested or attracted your channel, I had seen a snippet of the "get off my back" video of yours a years ago and I've used it quiet efficiently to quiet negativity I had to fight off. But then i had tried to find your actual channel and never did, so i gave up looking for you. But I found you again last night and I really believe that it was a pivotal moment in my journey of becoming my greatest version. If I had came across your content even last month I don't think I would of been ready for it, much less a year ago. But having grown so drastically since i saw a snippet of your exersize I have been bingeing your content and applying it. I resonate with your frequency of being and mental state, so the massive insight and different perspectives are truly life changing, so thank you for that. I hope you are finding what you want in your journey. I hope one day we cross paths and I can shake your hand, you're a good man Elliott. God bless you and your family

Like he said becoming a man as alot to do with saying NO to bullshit, (i.e. stop being a pawn in someone else's chessgame) But be careful not to reject everything you've been taught, some of it is good, some of it is bad, think critically about which of your habits are actually beneficial for you and which aren't (i.e. you don't need an A in your calculus class unless you actually believe you're going in math/physics/engineering/statistical biology etc, if ur not just get a C- and ull be fine)

Thank you Elliot. I happened to think of this video right after having a really intense "No" exprerience. I was saying no to all the ways my friends want me to be. How they want me to talk and act and live. And saying it to my family members as well. I was refusing to go back to the person who I was when I was younger. Meek, small, fearful, always being a chameleon. Screaming alone at my house, "Fuck you, I won't go back to being that shitty, depressed, anxious, scared little person. I don't care what you think about it. I'm not here to be who you want me to be." Then I went on and listed all the different things I could think of that they want me to do "I won't x how you want me to". talk walk eat live fuck work. All of it. Liberating experience and perfect message you provide to reinforce it. Thank you. Peace and happiness to you and your family.

I've noticed western philosophy is centered around individuality, in the east we function as a whole, as a family, then community and society...you will not hear eastern people say "do what you want", it may be a commendable value in the west but it's considered a destructive concept in the east.
@TonyPlease
@TonyPlease 9 жыл бұрын
You're not suppose to take the DO WHAT YOU WANT in that aspect, he means doing what you want to complete your goal. If you take it in a negative or evil fashion then maybe you should look at yourself. Also people in the West are family orientated and they work on themselves, hey explains it all doesn't it, work on yourself.

i think i went through this phase of "i will" in the 6th grade. i started questioning stuff, religion, school, etc. Because i started so young, i was incredibly naive and got into TONS of trouble with my teachers. always questioning them, arguing, being a dick of a student. I still made good grades and this alone is what kept me from failing each grade until highschool. now i start saying, its pointless to think you can do whatever you want, you are filling you mind with false hope. welcome to life. in order to gain power (like being very successful) you have to take shit in order to get shit done. don't stand up against the river you MUST float along side it and accept how things work. You must live with the river, understand how it works. Only when you have learned enough about the river, enough knowledge to be successful in life, you can use this power to redirect the river to places you want it to go. Dig your own ditches and ducts. if you don't care about other people, you can stop the flow all together. if and whenever you reach a point where you can control your life and nothing can be a challenge, you've just become like a god. enjoy it. revel in its pleasures. (bill gates with all those billions of dollars.. you bastard XD )

I hate how the school systems are, getting out of middle school and highschool they teach you nothing about life. Only those occasional non mandatory class and peer discussion that are not focused on the curriculum seemed to ever teach something. I wish i could own a high school which provided real world teaching and skills prior to graduating, id allow training to become an autotech. (I know schools have this but id have it too, maybe even a summer program for kids who are serious), graphic design classes, coding, fitness, i would offer only college level courses so my students would be able to comw out of college with free credits that actually matter, id provide summer programs and tutoring, cna and nursing programs that would prepare my students to enter those classes in college and trade schools and be masters at them, id provide on campus darecare for those students with children and special family situations, id provide science labs, a state of the art library, among other things, id have programs where we would use student labor to provide paid services that would help finance student trips and programs while encouraging students proactive leadership and servant skills (being a leader and being a follower has its place at the right times), id provide a fitness center, mental health programs to aide students and staff dealing with trama and mental health along with a medical center which can provide life saving care until the ambulance comes, id train all students in cpr 2 times a year giving them certification for free, provide halls for student organized events and clubs, this would be my dream to do all that and whatever else is needed or can be useful. I can see it man my biggest dream is to own that homeschool, Thunder Life Highschool, home of the Thunder Lions *Crash*Roar! Im getting all teary eyed lol 😂 im taking donationa guys i will save it all for that dream, first 100 donators over 1K get to bring your children for free for the next 5 generations lol

This. In english education you have the option of writing A(dvanced) level subjects after you've finished your O(rdinary) level subjects. A student would usually write A levels at 17-18yrs so you'd start college just around 19

I desperatly want to drop the fuck outta school and do art for a living, but I can't until I'm 16 and even then my parents probably wouldn't let me. Every fuckin day I waste 10 hours of my fucking life in a shitty school, learning things that will never ever be useful for me, the stress is killing me, the teachers degrade me, never letting me do my art shit (WHEN THAT IS MY FUCKIN FUTURE AND NOT THAT USELESS SHIT THEY'RE TRYING TO TEACH) And don't get me wrong, I think everyone needs a certain level of knowledge that goes behind 1x2 and the abc, but the shit that goes down in today's schools is fucking bullcrap. Now I'm gonna spill my heart out, so if you don't like teen angst, just skip ahead. If you're still here reading this,let me tell you a bit about one of my teachers. She's teaching English in a non-english speaking country, with an awful pronouncication and a lisp. And truth be told that bitch isn't just annoying, she's very arrogant too. The other day she scolded me for not paying attention in class(I'm in 9th grade, age 15), and she says: "Why ISN'T u paying attention?! I'm the teacher, u r da student...blablabla. Once, she told the class: "Everyone doesn't likes troublemakers", and the list goes on and on. It's really fucking humiliating and frustrating when people like her are trying to tell me what to do, when I already know what I'm going to make of my future, they're just wasting my time. IF YOU'RE IN THE SAME BOAT AS ME, FIGHT, FOR FUCK'S SAKE, DON'T LET MOTHERFUCKERS RUIN YOUR YOUTH AND PHYSICAL/MENTAL HEALTH, AND JUST DROP OUT AND LIVE THE LIFE YOU WANT TO LIVE. [If it's possible in your country btw B/] Daamn, this felt good.

+✄morty ✁ As much as you want to drop out of school (I did to when I was in highschool) don't because as much as you think it's a waste a time, just think of it as a stepping stone to a better tomorrow. Sometimes you have to suffer and do things that you don't want to do in order to be able to do what you want. You're still young so you're bounded by your parents so there's nothing you can do, but that doesn't mean you should just give up and let school slowly kill you. Try to find ways to make your time more enjoyable by asking questions such as "What things about school do I love" and focus on the positive aspects. If you keep focusing on the negative aspects of life all you'll see is the bad so do your best to focus on the good no matter how terrible the situation may seem. Stay strong dude. Keep asking questions and try your best at answering them yourself.

No problem dude for now just live day by day and find ways to be grateful every single moment of your life. The world is waiting for you to become that person you see yourself becoming but the time you have in school right now is needed in or to shape the inner artist in you. You just have to look at school differently and see how the basic knowledge you learn there can possibly help you with art. Just make everything you learn relatable to art and see how it can help you become a better artist. There's a KZbin video from JulienHimself called "I almost didn't record this, but... No Excuses!" which I feel like would help you right now. Sometime you got to do things you don't want to do in order to fulfill your dream.

You're completely right - but some kids could really interpret this in a wrong way and just rebel against their elders or society :D
@kanis999
@kanis999 10 жыл бұрын
The idea is to negotiate and test the boundaries, so it is rebellious by nature. If you didn't think Elliott was saying to rebel slightly, you clearly misinterpreted the video. He's telling us to stop being so "safe" all the time, and negotiate the conditions of our lives in attempt to actually improve our lives rather than sit quietly with our heads bowed to our elders. But it's a healthy kind of rebellion than moves that boundary ever so slightly into a position where both the new and the old generation win. The end goal for the lion is also actually win/win for everybody because that's how the lion benefits the most. If he keeps throwing win/lose deals around, he's going to starve. But I am also referring to people over the age of 18 :D.

***** ahahaha being "safe" thats what our society is all about now..... safuckingty... I heard a stoy that a school took dodgeball out because it can be dangerous.... I heard another thing that kids in 1940 could travel 10km alone, now they can do two streets alone for it to be safe !!! our society is becoming "pussy" its sad...... we want so much to be "safe" that we give up our freedom
@aceflowh9133
@aceflowh9133 10 жыл бұрын
Nikky Prime Obviously with population growth and the growth of civilizations since 1940, the world has become much more dangerous and so it is only logical to integrate more safety into society to deal with this new-found danger in the world. Don't be stupid. It is obviously much more dangerous these days with the far higher crime rate and it's not ok and safe for a child to just walk around alone. Furthermore, I'm not entirely sure if 10km back then was the norm at all, of course there would be some kids who would be allowed to do that, just like there are some who are allowed to do so today. Also, don't bother arguing that 1940 America was more dangerous as it really wasn't dangerous IN USA. They had curfews, food rationing, censorship and many more restrictions on people's daily lives in many countries around the world at that time so there really wasn't more freedom at all. A pretty stupid argument from you really.
@kanis999
@kanis999 10 жыл бұрын
In the 1940s sexual predators ran rampant on the streets of cities and went after hitchhiking boys. It was easy for them to get away with, and a shocking percentage of the boys were molested. Don't tell me the 40s weren't dangerous dude, and don't resort to calling somebody 'stupid' to win an argument.
@aceflowh9133
@aceflowh9133 10 жыл бұрын
Lol, I didn't need to call him stupid to win the argument, it was just a blatant observation. Also, when did I EVER say that the 40s weren't dangerous. Please tell me because I can't seem to find that anywhere in my comment. Why? Because it obviously isn't fucking there. I said the 40s wasn't AS dangerous as now. Please read someone's comment properly before replying foolishly. Yes pedophiles could get away with it more easily back then, but there were far fewer pedophiles and cases of molestation back then. Seeing as your argument was based around me saying that the 40s weren't dangerous (it's the reason why you talked about pedophiles), which I clearly did not say, your argument is invalid and mainly irrelevant. Now that I've won the argument, I'm not going to fucking call you stupid to win the argument as I don't need to and it wouldn't help at all really, I'm going to do so because again, it is a blatant observation, stupid.

This video really resonated with me. I am also 17, also doing A-levels, also playing a lot of rugby. My teachers set very specific pieces of work to do for homework. I used to do, as my classmates still do, the specific task set as homework. Recently I've started to say NO. I often feel that for me personally there is a better way - and I don't care if this is what I'm 'supposed' to do. Sometimes I do far more than is expected of me, and sometimes far less. I've started to carve my own path.
