There are things emotionally strong people do every day. They do these things to meet essential needs that we all have, but they make a point of making sure they respect them.
Emotionally strong people know that by making these 4 emotional strength building things non-negotiable they are going to be happier, heartier and more self-loving
In this episode of Good For Me TV, we are going to talk about how to become emotionally strong by using these 4 so you can start making a habit of getting going on them too!
*Based in part on the biopsychosocial model of George L. Engel, 1977.

I need to get off the junk food and back to the gym. I've been on a month or so long bad eating streak. Odd thing it all started with me drinking coffee again. I am doing good however being more social. Thanks to "meet up" groups in my area. I've also joined a small group at my church that meets weekly.

I think that you can not guarantee that the social relationship are mutual. Many times we give, we are open, we set boundaries, but the other part is not interested and you keep trying hard to get a good relationship. This is why , I think emotionally strong person can be enough by themselves and carry on life. If eventually you develop true relationship is good , but not granted, even with all efforts. I am confident about my point, it is my experience. But nice video.

When you mentioned 4 dimensions at the beginning, I automatically thought "physical, mental, emotional, spiritual." But then I thought "but social is really important, too." So I was delighted that you combined mental and emotional into psychological. Might I add, though, that financial is also very important? Many people experience much stress due to poor finances. Learning to be thrifty as a life-style can prevent a lot of stress. I feel like I am on the opposite end of the people-pleasing spectrum from you. I never cared what anyone thought about me personally, but I do care about doing a good job at whatever projects I attempt. You come across as someone who has had to overcome having too much of a people-pleasing mindset, and that's what you seem to be encouraging others to do. Especially women, who tend to be more p-p than men. (In the book/movie Room, the young abducted lady gets angry at her mom for teaching her to always be nice to people when she was a child. She figures that if she had been meaner, she would not have been abducted!) My mom remarried after my dad died... her new hubby is hyper-chatty and doesn't give her much quiet time. They go on road trips a lot... I asked how she deals with his constant chatter... she says she pulls out her checkbook and pretends to balance it and he automatically shuts up. Personally, I think that is riduculous: she should not have to pretend anything. Asking for 10 minutes of Quiet Time is totally reasonable. As for which of the 4 dimensions do I struggle with? Definitely social. I am an introvert and PROUD OF IT! (Read the book Quiet by Susan Cain if you need validation as an introvert.) I don't like to waste valuable time socializing with people who are shallow or negative or whose values are far off from mine. It is difficult finding real live people that I actually want to connect with! I enjoy your videos! Keep up the good work!

I completely agree with this. I go biking and do strength training 3 days a week. I'm 40 and I feel great physically. I read the bible every night before bed and go to church. The one thing I have always lacked was social skills. I have always been shy and I don't drink so going out and meeting new people has always been challenging for me. Of course I have a small group of friends but meeting new people is a struggle.

Thank you for the video. I watch all your videos. Being single and staying alone and in my 50s it is really hard making friends and having social contact. At work most people are married and are busy with families over weekends. I have tried a few things but it does not seem to work. Loneliness cant be explained as they think it is just being alone. I have been divorced for 16 yrs and battle with this the most. I think it is maybe the town I live in as well - not sure. I have learnt a lot from your videos. They really help. Thank you.

I've never watched your videos before but I had this one turn up in my suggestions and now I instantly subscribed. I've often been questioning myself why I'm so emotional weak its like this is what I needed to know and hear. I've been neglecting all four of them. I do it because I feel like I'm not deserving of it basically and there's no point. I'm trying to convince myself that if not for myself then I need to start looking after myself for other people so I can be of some use to them. Idk if it'll work but thank you for this.

Well I've had more interaction the last two days. One of the days was not by choice but I digress. Today I turned on KZbin and started listening to some music. Danced to a little bit of Rock did a little bit of two-step dancing. Not a couch potato by choice. I don't sit around munching. But the complex PTSD gets me down and along with that;MS also has its hooks in me. I will spend some time this afternoon with my granddaughters. Making that effort! Something has to change! Don't want to sound like an insincere groupie but this video has really helped. What sustains me is my faith in God.

Thanks you for this helpful video. These four dimensions really work. Especially i like the third one because it is really essential to go out from your comfort zone. Then you have a social skills you have a lot of ability in modern time. It can help you during your work or studies and in general it might help you to make healthy relationship and it is also necessary. Also I appreciated the item about mential health because it is a real problem nowadays. Million of people face obstacles such as fears, insecurity, low self-esteem, anxiety, struggle moments.

This made me feel so good becaue I felt so happy in my life having that group, more happy than I have been since freshman year of college dorming with great friends...only thing is my dnd group is 6 hours away in my home town. But i'm visiting my family and them soon so that will be a great time I look forward too. Haven't found a supportive friend group where I currently live but maybe one day or hopefully I move back soon enough.

I know that on days when I don't get enough sleep (like yesterday) my mood is hit really hard. Also when I eat well (vegetables/nourishing foods) my body almost thanks me with the energy. When I did Tony Robbins Life and Wealth Mastery (highly recommended) we did a cleanse that included a few days of green juices/omega 3 oils only, followed by days of salads and toppings (which included hummus and other beautiful foods). I felt WAY better after doing it (especially since at the time I wasn't taking care of my body as well as I knew to and energetically (both physical and emotional) it was taking a toll. The event impacted me so much that today the same salad concept (I've got a photo of my typical breakfast) has become routine to me. That, and I got sober 7 months ago (that part is an even a bigger factor). Today I feel like a different person, not just physically but emotionally.

Awesome Larry. Which part connected with you most?

I connected because I make an effort to exercise every day. I also have made more effort to set personal boundaries, be conscience of what I eat, my brother who deals with depression walks by the creek for an hour each day, I now listen to self-help psychology videos on You-Tube and have a subscription to your postings. Thank you you are making a difference in my life.

I have PTSD, depression, and an eating disorder (bulimia and binge eating disorder)... As I was beginning to watch this, I'll admit I was triggered. It's hard hearing these things sometimes. When you grow up believing you're an inherently a bad person, hearing these types of things can bring up intense feelings of shame and just brushing them aside doesn't work, not for me, not Instantly... but I've been working myself for quite a few years now. This video was extremely validating because it reminded me I Am working on some of these things, everyday, wholeheartedly. I'm at a point where after I feel the shameful feelings, I can stay calm and, listen to the rest of what someone has to say, essentially sit with those uncomfortable feelings longer. I remind myself, things don't have to black and white, its not all or nothing :)... I want to make a commitment to take the bus rather than a rideshare to keep my body moving longer, I want to try and do this a bit more often. As much as I nourish and respect my psychological and social part of me, I am that person who watches a lot of Netflix and eats fried foods. I can't be ashamed of that, I'm reminded by my own counselor that this is a survival mechanism, I use up most of my mental and emotional energy during the day (with my job mostly) so learning to balance that out is something else I am working on, so that when I am home I am not completely drained. Thank you Julia Kristina

New subscriber here, Julia. You are so inspiring, lovable and down right adorable. Thank you for all your dedication with these videos. I am a new fan. Really drawn to the ones on emotional control. It’s been my number one issue in life and has done a job on me always sabotaging my confidence. I want to know how not to tear up and show my cards always. I want a poker face. Worst part is that my tears come like sweat it seems and don’t always represent what’s on the inside. Ughh so frustrating.

It is a tough one to make a non-negotiable, but I know when you do you will wonder how you ever neglected that part of yourself before! Keep me posted on how it all goes.

The framework is especially useful. I have a Peanuts moleskin daily planner. I drew a four-part grid at the bottom of the next thirty days for biological... to ensure I think of and act on each daily. I also immensely enjoy your commentary! I appreciate the time you invest in offering such practical and thoughtful content.

I am having a lot of anger issues, I am annoyed by even small things that shouldn't not be an issue, I feel very dull and emotionally very weak although I never had any breakup at all and I always have friends to talk about and I also overthink about the issues which doesn't have any direct link with my life. After watching this i came to know I have been ignoring all the things has been said in this video, it's simply to the point and I can connect myself with it very easily. Now, I will try to fight myself as this scenario has been created by myself only.
