This man just has such a patient attitude and soothing voice that I watched the whole video despite not owning any of these tools.

Thanks! I bought one of these tools and wasn’t sure how to use it. The 12 o’clock, 6 o’clock, 3 o’clock, 9 o’clock tip is great!

Best video of actually bezel setting a stone and using the bezel roller/pusher and burnisher. However I'd like to know more about adapting the flex shaft to be used as a burnisher.
@RioTechs9 жыл бұрын
damok9999 Thanks for watching damok. With the flexshaft you can use the hammer handpiece to hammer the bezel down on the stone. Something like www.riogrande.com/Product/Foredom-H15-Hammer-Handpiece/117026?Pos=3 Be sure to polish the tip of the anvil before setting. There is a burnisher available for use with the flexshaft but it's not normally used for stone setting, mostly used for burnishing out pits in castings or solder seams. www.riogrande.com/Product/Rio-Margin-Roller,-8mm/342201?Pos=1 I hope this helps, Mark N Tech

RioTechs Thanks, definitely helped me narrow my search and identify my needs (a flex shaft upgrade first!) Appreciate the links.

I use a white jewelers compoundand a dremel too with a buffing tip. Th esilver is soft so it will shne up pronto. You can also use a fine weave thick cloth with alittle polishing compound and hand polish to a serious mirror finish.

It would be nice to see a video with better explanations about bezel height and overall setting techniques that achieve a smooth finish on camera.

I love your videos, and I'd like to know for your silver bezel on a copper back plate, what type of solder did you use? silver or colour match copper? or something else..? Thank you :)
@RioTechs9 жыл бұрын
+Elaine Marie LeBel HI Elaine, thanks for watching. I use a silver solder. It'll blend with the silver bezel and be hard to notice. Try to place the solder on the inside of the bezel to avoid having it run out over the copper. I hope this helps. Mark N. Tech

thank you Mark, it helps, I'M only used to solder copper so far, tried soldering silver to copper but usually silver melted before the solder lol (copper solder needing too much heat). Thanks again :)

Hi, I'm going to buy all the tools from your site and set a cabochon in one of your gold filled ring settings. Do you know if gold filled settings can withstand all of the burnishing or should I be more gentle with gold filled? Thank you!
@RioGrande19445 жыл бұрын
Hi Jen, Our in-house jewelry techs say that you'd need to be a little gentler with the burnishing. In fact, it would be best to push on the bezel to form it over the cab rather than doing too much actual burnishing. This should work well using a bezel roller or burnisher. Hope this helps, and have a great day!

Me again , do you have a video on correct way to add twisted wire aground a bezel, ????
@RioGrande19446 жыл бұрын
Hi Deborah, Thank you for watching. If you aren't already aware of the Ganoksin Orchid forum for jewelers, we'd love to introduce you to it. We've found it helpful in so many ways. Here's a thread specifically about soldering twisted wire to a bezel: orchid.ganoksin.com/t/soldering-twisted-wire-to-a-bezel/14216 We hope this helps you, too!

My flex shaft doesn’t have that flexible metal to facilitate the bending. Why?
@RioGrande19442 жыл бұрын
For most flex shaft systems you can change the handpiece to give you one with the flexible metal. For example here is a link to the one that was used in the video, ow.ly/lL1J50H7FKO
