This is awesome. I too new house, new to oil burners. Can't get an engineer in a hurry for love nor money and while I realised something may need bleeding after running out of oil, I didn't know where to start and frankly didn't want to mess with it but this gave me confidence to have a look and sorted it! Allowed the oil to run out, into lockout. Perfect instructions to bleed the line through. Our line must be 25/30 metres though so prepare to do a few bleeds due to more than one airlock.

Having run out of oil with the expected delivery not arriving when we hd hoped - we borrowed some containers and managed to get 50 ltrs into our tank - but then had the worry of how to get everything up and running again. This video provided everything we needed to know and within 10 minutes our heating system was back up and running. It saved us £80+ in a call-out too. Top job - thanks

I tried to start it many times and it didn't work. When checking the oiltank I noticed the valve was closed. My kids like playing in that corner behind the tank. Thanks Stephen, I just did this for our Grant boiler. Initially I just pressed the reset button and I thought it had come back to life, but an hour later I realised everything was still cold. So I followed your directions, had to wait for an age as the air gently hissed out - maybe that's because there's a fairly long pipe from the oil to the burner - about 20 foot/ 6 metres. Then it was fine. Thanks for posting this video. Richard

Thanks for the video, this didn’t work for me after 20 or so attempts. For me we had to get the plumber out, and essentially after the pressure dropped, the boiler overheated. This the tripped the fire safety switch outside. All that needed to be done was to switch that, and everything worked again. So if you’re having issues after over heating, it could be something simple like that.
