Thanks for the video. Just had to bleed my boiler with it being -2c outside and our oil tank ran dry at 8pm on a Saturday night. (Just had a new digital gauge fitted that obviously doesn't work as it tells me there is 500l still in the tank!). 2 hours of manic driving around in 5m visibility fog to buy 40l of emergency oil in 5l screen wash containers and the burner wouldn't fire. Only took about 5 mins to get going with your video. Loosened the bleed plug, didn't remove it fully, fashioned a bit of plastic to catch the oil that comes out and pressed the button. Three presses later, air bleeding out, steady stream of oil and the burner fires up. Thank goodness. Life saver. My three young kids appreciate you and the central heating once more.

Thanks this saved my ass, boiler ran out of fuel. Then wouldn't fire. Despite me checking it had fuel all the way to the copper fitting just on the side of the boiler. I pressed the reset button about 20 times and nothing. Then bled it like in this video (I just pushed some clear pvc hose in the bleed hole and sucked). Then it fired right up. I was very close to calling someone out I thought it was goosed. Thanks again

Great video mate I’m sure a lot of happy people in winter now 😂 but an Easier way to do this is switch on your heating, then follow the same steps as in video, (take red cover off, unscrew the Allen key screw, but instead of buying a peice of kit, just use an old bottle put it over the oil sour and press the red button, this will cycle the oil out into the bottle, do this 2 times, then screw Allen back in and hit the reset button again and you should be golden 💪💪

That's what I used to do in my last house - but in this house I would have to push that button about 30 times - which is why I use this method now!

Doesn't matter - the boiler itself will not be running until it's bled - and that can be done with the boiler on or off - or course, it needs to be on when you hit the button at then

There should be a name and model number on your boiler somewhere - google that and the bleeder valve location

No - the boiler doesn't have to be on to bleed it

Jump the CAD cell once lit… old school. 3/8th or 7/16th wrench and a cup. Source: I’m a tech taught by guys who did it since the 60’s and working for companies that didn’t provide me tools. I’m not sucking the oil out of someone’s nasty boiler that probably sat in shit water at some point in its life. I have a push pull pump and a CO2 gun if I HAVE to do that. Open bleeder, jump cad cell or if it’s a protectorelay system pull the burner relay, and let the burner pump do it for you. It locks out due to failed TFI (trial for ignition) so you pass it artificially. In NY oil is 3.499/gallon.

I normally fit a tube around the blead point and trick the burner into running by exposing the photocell to light and let the burner do the bleeding for you.

@@deepakkunwar736 because if it’s jumped out it thinks it sees flame and passes TFI and will keep running. Hit reset with it jumped out and it will refuse to start if it senses flame as a safety for your eyebrows

I did - before I bought the kit and switched to this method of bleeding - my boiler is higher than my oil tank so the oil keeps running back down the pipe when bleeding the old fashioned way of pushing the button over and over

I found that just loosening the screw and then pushing the button works fine. Some oil will come out with the air but not much and it will then fire.

Yes - on some boilers in some houses that works, and to be honest - that is the case the majority of the time - I've had houses in the past where that is all you need to do - but my last two houses the bottom of the oil tank is lower than the boiler - so you don't have gravity helping you.

If it's fully bled and not firing up then the problem may be elsewhere - but make sure to fill the little bottle - sometimes I get impatient and try to fire it up before the bottle is filled and it turns out that there is still a little air in the system

You may have missed a step 😂 - or added a new one! Never press the button while the screw is out unless you have a bottle to catch the oil

Do not press that button with the bleed plug out. You will have oil squirting all over the place. Take the plug out with a container under it and it will bleed by itself, the oil will run back down the tube and onto the floor of the boiler unless you wrap a bit of paper round the spout to give the oil a route into your yoghurt pot, take your time and have plenty of rags. Dont press that button without the plug in. I know this because I just bled mine and I am sharing my experience, same model.

Agreed - never press the button with the bleed plug out - in my process I take it out - use the bleed kit made of two pipes and the bottle and suck until the oil comes out and the bottle is filled - then put the bleed plug back in and then hit the button. Should fire up first time with zero mess!😁
