I learned to tune myself, I turbo'd my s2000, put an aem ems v2, and went to town. I read two books, and did massive amount of theory learning. One suggestion on road tuning that worked well for me; tune fuel first, set your timing to be about 5-10 degrees across the entire map (idle and low idle cruising can be set higher, and higher rpm set it to 5 or even 0 if your running high boost.). You will make no power on full power pulls, but it gives you the chance to safely tune your fuel. once fuel is dialed, tune away at timing. and also worth mentioning to use knock, as soon as I see any knock on any cylinder, I dial back 2-3 degrees of timing. Depending on your ecu, you can also add fuel individually per cylinder. a really cool trick if you would want to find your own method of knowing if your change made you more power. Look into accelerators for Arduino's. it can give you real data showing if adding a degree of timing did anything. Right now, Im a bit scared of touching my b5s4 ecu, AEM ems v2 is known to be one of the most intensive computers to tune on, but the mtronic 7.1 is a bit much.

@terminator2149 time to spend days on nefmoto!! Learning the bosch is tedious, but once you get the hang its really fun to make edits and start dialing them in. Building a 2.7t rn after snapping a rod late last year. Had a blast tuning the single turbo on 93 and things held together really well. Switched to e85 and got way too aggressive. The car pulled like you wouldn't believe and didn't have any knock, but the rods checked out after a while. The internet is right, if you have a stock bottom end, keep the boost curve conservative until your 4200 plus if you want to keep her together for a while.

Thanks for this man. I'm actually planning on putting together a less expensive and intense build to practice on.

have the same thing happening to me, 3.2 touareg motor in a 02 gti. rod shot right out the back of the block along with some of the crank. devastated but you live and you learn. currently tearing it down.

Looks like some big detonation on that. But I’m wondering why it was only in that cylinder. Weird. Wish you would get back into the 2.7 and make a monster motor. Maybe even one of the newer billet blocks🤔

We want to see a video of what led up to the piston failure. We want to see your Audi out ripn! Go drive it around and make a video of that maybe a couple launches and diggs that’s what we want to see. Mount a go pro inside or figure out some way to film yourself while rippn on vr6 turbo goodness.
