Great video, I have been doing ice baths for a few months consistently for a minimum of 5 minutes. I realize that if you don’t panic and just relax it’s not difficult at all. When I first submerge my body into the water I get that wow factor for about 15 seconds and then I just relax for the remainder of the time. For me the difficult part is everything that leads up to doing the ice bath but once I step in all negative feelings go away. I then air dry in about 20 degree weather and I’m not even cold. I will start to shiver about 15 minutes later but I try to get on the treadmill before the shivers start. The only real advantage I feel is muscle recovery. Im able to do things at the gym that I haven’t been able to do in over 10 years. Im 56 years old.

Good video .There are a lot of nescient personalities out there who are misleading people and encouraging conflated versions of Wim Hoff style breathing whilst in the water as if hyperventilating intentionally whilst submerged in freezing cold water is a good idea . You explained it very well both scientifically and sympathetically and would be my go to recommendation to anyone new to cold exposure .

@PerformanceThroughHealth yeah they had been more uncomfortable . I'm preparing for cold water swimming at the end of summer hopefully if things go well. Just a composition thing. Who knows how much I'll get used to maybe even winter lake swim. Your info helped a lot.

How are you getting on with the cold showers?
@seniimonrollaudios6 ай бұрын
In the Ethiopian orthodox religion we are forced to undergo cold holy water showers. If u hyperventilate or make any noise they claim u have the devil in you and keep you in there longer by force and beat ur forehead with a cross. (I left the religion a long time ago😭) but tomorrow they’re taking me and my siblings again so I want to see if this reduces hyperventilating🙏🏽🙏🏽thank you so much

Is there a specific protocol for reducing chronic pain?
@PerformanceThroughHealth11 ай бұрын
Ease yourself into cold showers, then cold water 14C or less, then gradually decrease the temperature. Start at 10 minutes and the colder your get the less time you need. Remember to use your breathing to manage the discomfort. This is also advisable outside the water

When you are talking about deep breathing once we enter the bath, do you mean diaphragm-stomach only breathing?
