How to Breed Fire Salamanders

Hey guys, in this video I show you how to successfully keep and especially breed fire salamanders.

Thanks! It's a wild individual of Salamandra s. gallaica, which I found in Portugal last year.

Very nice gallaica! I wished mine had that much red. How big is your female in the video? My gallaica have grown incredible fast in the last year from morphing to over 6" now.

This is actually a wild individual I found in Portugal. :D but it was quite huge, I'd say about 27cm long. Very nice your young salamanders grow that fast, you probably feed them very well. :D

If you bread the red ones only, can you out bread the yellows that will hatches out so it wil lonly be red?

If you breed a red pair, there will only be red offspring. Red x yellow follows Mendel's law, where yellow is dominant and red recessive.

Humidity do you mean spray the Cage? Keep the substrate moist? So you lower the temp and raise it up to how high

Yes, exactly, increase the total humidity. But make sure there's still enough ventilation.

@@AquaTerra-Life well that would lead to my next question then. What the humidity level be at? And how much ventilation should I need? By that I mean I need ventilation to dry out to prevent bacteria from growing?

How often do they breed? I’ve heard that they only breed every other year

Normally every year after reaching sexual maturity, but yes, sometimes a year might be skipped.

No, not yet, unfortunately I won't be able to ensure the necessary low temperatures they need all year round. Maybe one day. :)

Bin als alter Aquarianer total "angefixt" von den Feuersalamandern ! Gibt es eine empfehlenswerte Gruppe oder eine Gesellschaft, die einem bei den ersten Schritten unterstützen kann ? Auch Adressen von serösen Züchtern wären ein große Hilfe...

Falls es noch aktuell ist: Ich kann dieses Forum empfehlen, auch wenn es recht "ruhig" ist: www.feuersalamander.com/forum/ Ansonsten gibt es in den meisten größeren Städten auch Stadtgruppend er DGHT, da sollte man eigentlich auch immer einen Feuersalamander-Züchter dabeihaben. :)
