Celestial pearl danios! They're small, easy to breed. I can tell you what works for me if you do get and want to breed them! Will fit in your tanks just fine, and very nice guys.

I had two males and four females and the bigger male was breeding nonstop but I could get the fry to live very long. I'm getting a tank set up later this year so I'll try it again soon!

Excellent video! I'll be using your tips while hatching and raising my first batch of eggs (2nd batch really, I let nature take its course for the 1st batch to encourage additional breeding events) which should hatch in the next week or so!

@@ukfishguy8133 unfortunately, I think I pulled the cave far too early because I didn't have any successfully hatch. I pulled the cave on day 2 since it looked like the male was already starting to feed on some of the eggs (he ate the first batch of eggs around day 7 so maybe he developed a taste for them lol). They seemed to develop well (saw larvae wiggling around with eye spots), day 6-7 they turned brown and by day 10 I couldn't see any more movement in the eggs. Gave up and put the cave back in my tank to get a new batch of eggs. I'm gonna try waiting to pull the cave until after they turn brown regardless of any predation by the male. Perhaps I'll try turning the aeration down too to reduce disturbance on the eggs (they were kinda jostling around a lot, I'm worried if the movement damaged the larvae). Any feedback would be much appreciated!

I found babies swimming around a few weeks ago and thought they were cherry barbs since we asked for 2 female gudgeons, but no they are distinctly male and female! We did nothing special. I feed them Flugal flakes and pellets, no frozen food at the moment. I caught them spawning on the heater suction cup that wasn't stuck to the glass the other day, but the next morning the eggs were gone. About 8-10 of the first batch is still alive.

Nice video. You didn’t however mention you water parameters - what was your pH, GH and KH? 🤓👍

Thanks Paul, much appreciated. I wasn't actually measure those parameters unfortunately. I was using 50% rainwater and 50% tap water. Tap water here is pretty hard with a pH of around 8.

Congrats. How about killifish? Mine breed in the community tank but I’ve never seen eggs. Btw how do you keep the plants healthy? Liquid fertilizer?

Thanks Peter, appreciate it 😊. Kilifish are a great shout! I'll look into what species I can get hold of. What species do you have? I don't actually do anything to help the plants, but the fish are fed several times a day which keeps the nutrient levels pretty high.

@@ukfishguy8133 cape lopez, the bright orange one. I have one pair. With feeding I try to keep algae in check so I tend to feed minimal which isn’t always beneficial for fast growing plants.

@@Dassenkop Cape lopez lyretails are such a stunning fish. I'm going to see if I can get hold of some. Thank you for the recommendation! I forgot to mention, in my planted aquariums I do use an aquatic soil (Fluval Stratum). I have great results using this, it does need to be replaced every year or so tho!
