CORRECTION: The price listed for the SSD in the on screen break down is incorrect. We got the SSD for $49.99 and price matched the PSU at $49.99 bringing the total to $612. It also important to note that the SSD has gone up to $55 since making this video. These price swings are somewhat normal during these tariff debates/wars.
We set out to build the FASTEST budget minded PC that we could... and with the criteria of NOT wasting money but also not going as cheap as possible, this is what we came up with.

Please see the description... there was an on screen mistake regarding the pricing of the SSD. $28 was for the lower capacity drive. We actually spent $49 for the 500GB ssd. We also price matched the PSU and saved $5 bringing the total to $612. Sorry about that.

@@emilypeters8888 as an owner of a DeepCool Gammaxx 400, AND a DeepCool Malestrom 120 CLC, I can confirm that those both cool way more than you'd think. Hyper 212 and a MasterLiquid 120 Lite should both be included. All of these are under $60, and those air coolers, at $30 to 40 depending on sales, are at the top end of what you *should* be getting for an air cooler on desktop, consumer grade parts. Maybe throw in some comparable parts from Thermaltake and Cryorig for good measure, and compare the lot to the stock fans on various chips?

Howdy, I am approaching 70 in the near future and decided to build a new computer. I have been gaming on an old dinosaur (Dr. says gaming keeps my brain young) and I have been downloading your videos because it might take me a few viewings to get what you are saying. I use to do programming and board repair back in the day so I know how to turn a screw but I fall down on what component goes with what memory stick with what MB so I do LOTS of research. But what I wanted to mention is that on occasion, KZbin tells me your video has been removed. I wait 5 minutes and it is back but still... Keep up the good work.

@musje83
@musje83 4 жыл бұрын
@@edbeecher3193 Probably better you passed on that set. The AMD FX technology is 8 years old and (thus) also uses DDR3. Modern AMD (AM4 socket, Ryzen) are faster, far more energy efficient and use faster DDR4. 150$ sounds like a good deal and it'll work for sure, but you'll be better off with a Ryzen setup. If you gaming demands aren't high-end (AAA titles, 4k resolution, maximum settings) then you'll do just fine with something like this: - Ryzen 3 3200G (about 95$) - A nice B450 motherbord from ASrock, Asus or similar (think 60$) - RX 570 4GB (around 150$ or half used) - 2x 8GB DDR4 3000/3200Mhz (around 2x 35$) - 500-ish GB SATA SSD (50-60$) - Windows 10 Home/Pro x64 (20-30$) - Case and Power Supply with some fans This is based on the assumption you'll want good performance at a decent price, the good ol' bang for buck. But feel free to up/downgrade :-)

I feel you dude. I bought a 6600k+970 back in 2015 and I've had to upgrade it a bit since just to keep up. I think a big problem was that Intel never drops prices on older stock. You couldn't pick up a Haswell i5 for i3 prices when Skylake dropped. Nvidia also wasn't offering 1080p 60fps high settings cards for >$150. Back in the day a "budget" AMD build would have been something like an fx 6300/8350 and an r7 370/r9 380. How times have changed.

@@kalebjensen1262 I disagree, on the CPU. The upgrade was warranted. My i7 6700k is nearly bottlenecking my 1080 in games like BF1. I have a feeling it's due to the speculative execution patches causing performance hits. In 2016, BF1 used 70% of the CPU, and now in 2019, it has spikes over 80%, up to 90% IIRC. Of course, this evidence is anecdotal, but I've also noticed slowdowns in several other areas. Blender absolutely destroys my CPU too. I'll be holding on to the 6700k for a couple more years, but I might jump ship at ryzen 4 or 5th gen, 6th at the latest.

I'd like to see how cheap it would be to make a decent 1440p rig. Like a 3600 paired with a 2060 super or 2070 super (not entirely sure if these would work well with this res but that's the point of the vid). Especially with 1440p 144hz panels getting cheaper and the introduction of gsync compatible. To me it seems like 1440p gaming has gotten much more accessible in just the last year. I think it would be cool to show people that you don't necessarily need a top of the line pc to jump to 1440p.

@Tidder T I'm going with mid range card for a few reasons: 1. Even brand new RX 570 is cheaper than used GTX 1070/1080 2. My monitor is only 60 hz and mid range card can push around 60 fps even in high settings in AAA titles so there's no need to get more fps. 3. If I buy used 1080 and it will fail I'll lose a lot of money. Mid range won't hurt my wallet that much if it fails. 4. And finally I'm tight on money rn. Have enough to upgrade rig but not enough to get decent card upgrade. I'll probably buy something better future but for now it's just enough
