Rad table build! I built one almost identical to this last year, but I actually laminated the tabletop with EVA foam and green felt to simulate a neoprene playmat. I then built a second better table for the practice and was able to sell it locally for a good little chunk of change. New side hustle unlocked, lol.

Nice build! I actually also just finished up building a D&D table with a TV in it, and also used deck posting for the legs. I've never seen any other table use deck posting for the legs, so it was neat to see that you had the same idea.

@@DoubleCritFail I have a free 58” 4K can this go Into obs and dungeon alchemist , how did you get the grid to the right scale 1”. …. Thank you
@DoubleCritFail4 ай бұрын
@@christreedee Hey! Yes, you can use Dungeon Alchemist and OBS to display this on your table. Just create a scene in OBS, add Dungeon Alchemist as a window capture, and scale up and down on your dungeon alchemist map until the grid is approximately 1 inch. I find it doesn't have to be perfectly exact, but you can keep a ruler handy if you want to be precise.

Good video! Straight forward basic design, easy to follow. Yeah it is cool to see some of the overly elaborate builds with 123123013 bells and whistles but it is also important to see a well designed and executed table that is actually do-able by someone who isn't a master craftsman! Looks like it would be really fun to build and use.

A note on your editing style. When you are explaining the location of things, don't have the entire model constantly spinning at the same time. It made me motion sick to try and follow. Otherwise, really cool build.
@DoubleCritFail9 ай бұрын
Thank you for the feedback! I'll definitely keep that in mind for the future.
@GeoFry37 ай бұрын
Spinning is bad. Can't see the details without going cross-eyed. Music is another thing. Unless it adds to the content. Save it for the intro/outro. In the middle, it just muddies up your dialog. Cool build.

This is really great, did you use a program to plan it or did you wing it?
@DoubleCritFail7 ай бұрын
I pretty much started with the simple design I demonstrated in photoshop. I built a rough 3d model in Blender that my friend refined using a CAD program. (Sketchfab I think?) From there, we were off to the races!
@somerandomguy2465 ай бұрын
Do you think this would work with a bigger TV say 52 in. Same measurements except for the frame around the tv?
@DoubleCritFail4 ай бұрын
I think it probably could! Just be sure to get longer 2x4s for the long sides of the table, unless you shrink the amount of edge space around the TV.
@SDoty2 ай бұрын
How much did the poster plastic overlap the frame of the TV? I am making a table, but worried about spilled beverages.
@DoubleCritFail2 ай бұрын
There isn't much overlap. If I were to do it again, I'd consider actually having the plastic extend past the cutout section of the table and use small nails to secure it to the table frame, so it acts more as a guard between the TV and spills. This would "lock in" the TV making it harder to remove, but would also be much more spillproof.
@SDoty2 ай бұрын
@@DoubleCritFail This is a great idea. I was thinking about wrapping it around the TV, but this makes more sense.
@jordanrichley72759 ай бұрын
How many players sit around the table including the DM? I've been looking at making something like this but we have 8 total people that need to fit around it (one side is taken up by the DM).
@DoubleCritFail9 ай бұрын
This particular table holds only six. Two on each wide side, and one on each end. If you wanted to fit eight players, you could look at something like Critical Role's table for inspiration.

The next time you make something with a large slab like a table top I would suggest you not glue and screw it down to its base. You are asking for issues down the road as both the frame and top expand and shrink. I would suggest looking into z clips or figure 8 fasteners.
