What I do is put freezers in my freezer room and turn them off. Then when you get a solar flare or whatever the thing is that turns off your Air Con, you can just turn on the freezers (these are unaffected) temporarily until it passes, then your whole room doesn't rot.

​@TheOnlyL0nzY But the air con still uses up 50% more power due to the solar flare, so it's a good power saver potentially. You'd have to compare the power drain between those, though. Also, I believe freezers can hold more items than shelves but if you're not also using the freezers for backup like OP suggested, you'd use fridges instead because they cost less, however this is all hinging on the thought that fridges hold more then shelves, sooo... go check for yourself, I guess.

With the room, you need more than one AC unit as they can just malfunction. I do fine tune my room and only put in items which last with frozen only. If it is indefinite under roof, I just make stockpiles with the basic shelters. Costs a lot less.

A few suggestions about your survivors. Quinn has a special ability that reduces the expedition time in half so he is the best choice usually. For research Krista has a breakthrough ability that will speed up research time. Greyson can build or construct wooden objects at 4x speed.

@@TheOnlyL0nzY Thank you for the great videos. I am still learning as well. I find chew root in higher elevations especially close by water. I believe if you do the wide click and drag selection it will show up as densely leaved plant. I do the click and drag to narrow the area when trying to find things.

If you put fans in the freezer room it will lower the temperature alot. Also put vents on the walls and open them in winter and conserve the energy.

U can hold shift to continously build like after you're satisfied with the line of storage press shift then left click then you can start building another line of storage without repeating the process of clicking icons

The RNG can make a huge difference in this game as well. I got awesome breakthroughs, but didn't get a lot in the way of electronics from salvages. Same with weapons. I only had two pistols for quite a while. After getting my base built, I had a heat wave, took out a lot of electronics, then an attack, which damaged turrets. By the time I got them all repaired I had no gas, no electronics, silicon, etc. Just had another attack, 3 turrets down now. I wish they had a rag doll showing you if someone was missing some clothes/armor or the condition of it. I keep forgetting to check, then winter comes and they freeze their asses off. There are also a couple of bugs where say a flamethrower isn't accessible, but survivors keep grabbing gas saying they are handline the throwers, but they drop the gas, start to go to another task, only to handle the thrower again. I had about 3 of them stuck in this loop until I figured out it was the thrower that was the problem, not the location on the floor where the gas was. But that's minor and I probably won't see it again myself, as I will ensure I build differently.

If you tame about 5 Ulsen, keep them in a pen within your base, they will keep multiplying pretty consistently and you will always have a lot of poop (for fuel & fertilizer). if you kill off a few here and there, you’ll get a lot of leather (and meat), have someone craft X (usually craft enough for each survivor + 1 or 2 extra) amount of pants, boots, winter vests, etc,. You dont have to equip the items every time, if you have them in stock, the survivor will go put on the clothes themselves. Ranching is also awesome for crafting synthetic materials as you need fuel to do so. I have built the delivery drones for the sole purpose of maintaining the vast amount of cow crap i have, and have almost 2k in fuel and about 500 synthetic stored.

I haven’t found chew root or the berry bush on my current(most successful) playthrough. It’s a shame too, I have Emelie whose favorite recipe is ratatouille which requires chew root. No wine possibility is a drag, obviously.

Can be very hit and miss for sure. Funnily enough, this was the first time I found Chew Root and it was from an expedition. Haven't had it on any other seed so far! I believe it is closer to water areas though as a tip

I'm jealous you got more survivors, I barely get 1 extra and most plays don't get one at all in first 2 years. With BIRTH-APPEAL i did get though a nice map and gotten Ken engaged with an older lady, but it still hard to get on day 6 year 1 or 2 a free survivor, did you get them from exploring?

The seed itself determines if you get survivors walk in. The rest is down to chance on the expeditions. Try seed "LLL" on Sobrius. it has a walk in for the first week I believe.

If that AC unit had a CPU does is go down when there’s a solar flare? Though I’m not certain of the exact length, the flares will last 2 to 3 days. If the AC goes down how does that affect/effect (never sure which is right) the freezer room? Have you experienced this yet? I currently have 8 freezers and am looking for a reliable alternative. With so many they’re all bound to need repairs at any particular time using my precious electronics and alloys.

You are correct, the Air Con unit breaks. The Alternative is to have Freezers that are turned off but in the same room. When the solar flare happens, turn on the freezers. This was in the comments and not my own suggestion. Thanks for watching!

@@TheOnlyL0nzY I’ll check the comments. I might just give this room a whirl for the heck of it. Maybe the bricks insulation keeps it cool enough long enough. Having so many freezers is taxing. I’m in year 8 or 9 now, just delaying rescue really. I wanted to see if I could find the 7th or 8th survivor. I’ve been watching everybody play this game your content is very helpful. Been playing this game a lot lately excited for its development. Gonna start your playthrough from the start. Just watched your, I forget what you called it, but your essential first 10 days. It was really good! You hit all the points I was expecting. Gonna post a comment on that video when done watching this. Good content!

@@Franco1395 you're awesome, thank you! The seed you are playing on heavily influences the survivor find rate FYI. I believe there is a seed called "LLL" that will give you a guaranteed 6 survivors in the first year or so (taken from the official discord).

The air-conditioning only goes to +10 degrees, the freezer goes to -18. A cold room can't substitute a freezer.

Not played rimworld. It has a feature where if a bed is in a room, it is then classed as a bedroom. Is that what you mean?

@TheOnlyL0nzY yes, but more like if you build a room and put crating table, lights, a chair it becomes a workshop which add a speed bonus. you can also make a kitchen and research room. You can basically make any room with productivity it will have a speed bonus.
