Fits well into my space, I painted the back green. It's very easy to customize just the back if that's something you want to do. I would suggest sanding it first before painting, I got a little impatient. The shelves kzbin.infoUgkxM8H4CjCb79vzeyvgaFMdzmLm88oVFPMkare pretty small so keep that in mind if you're going to have it horizontal that some books won't fit. I like the snug look that it has. Good small shelf if you don't have much space, but not too small. Simple to put together, though you'll need your own tools, a screwdriver and a mallet/hammer, it's easiest to do with another person.

It is simple, modern and also timeless! Jon, you should do outtakes all the time...or more often!

Gorgeous work and the outtakes were pretty funny too (Took me back to the time I had to open and close a box in my shot probably 20 times to get the take just right). I learned a lot from the application of your veneer.

Yes, loved the video. A couple of recent projects with Veneer have been really great looking. I love this simplistic design on this one, but the bottom frame/kickplate with the mahogany ends was gorgeous. Thank you Jon for showing us what is possible. Watching you work just put a smile on my face every time 😃

Loved the bloopers, Jon! And yeah, it's hard to categorize this project. It's not difficult or complicated, but it demands an extremely high level of precision. The problem with very modern looking pieces is that they have to have very nice crisp lines, and any small defect tends to really stand out. You also never really mentioned what type of veneer you used, but I'm assuming it was paper backed cherry.

Nice job. Would make a good LP storage unit. It reminds me of the G- Plan or Ercol Scandinavian style. I use titebond cold press glue when veneering and a vacuum cold press it allows more fiddle room to align things. My finishes are all oil based as it makes the grain pop better although it darkens it a little too.

Beautiful project, Jon. Thanks for taking the time and effort to show this (and your many other great projects). Really like your unpretentious style- gives a novice “woodworker” like me inspiration to attempt this build. I’m curious why you didn’t mask off the white painted areas when you did the spray finish on the outside surfaces. Is it not necessary to do this? Thanks, and cheers on a job well done, Sanjeev
