Yes, we had to! Those things are expensive, and by building them ourselves, we managed to save more than 300 USD 👌

Nice design -- it's going in my inspiration folder! Instead of using a dog-bone fillet in the corner, you could use a t-bone fillet that would be hidden under the tenon edge.

Thank you for the tip! The T-bone fillet would have saved us some time.

Hi! there is one thing i wonder with these rocking chair stuff. How do you calculate the length of the tail(the piece that touches the ground)? How long should it be?
@Aribabox7 ай бұрын
It depends on the chair design. The bottom arch should be long enough so it would be impossible for the chair to flip over when rocking. It's dependent on the center of mass of the chair.

rounding the tenons will never be seen. Where as a simple slip of the chisel. Will leave a strong shadow line on the mortise. That will draw the eye to the error. I think, even if the tenon came thru the other side and showed the tenon. It would be fine to have a tiny chamfer on the edges. As long it was clean as the rest of the build. Cut a block of wood to support a chiselon the flat at the correct champer height and rotate the square tenon stock to get all four corners the same. Rectangles need a two block set up.

Great tip! I agree, a clean chamfer on the edges of a visible tenon can actually add a nice touch to the overall craftsmanship. Your suggestion of using a block of wood to support the chisel at the correct chamfer height is a practical way to ensure consistency. Thanks for sharing this helpful technique!
