Hi Ben, thanks for this fantastic series, been really interesting and valuable to watch, as is your other channel! I studied architecture and practiced for a few years before now working as a project manager and I really want to keep using my design skills and undertake a house /tiny home build project in my parents backyard where they have some land. I look forward to your next house build series!! Cheers from New Zealand!

Holy shit Ben, your announcement has been something I’ve personally wanted to do my entire life. Build a modern home, while keeping the “core” principles of modernism in mind, not the fetishized ideals of cantilevers and insanely precise/expensive details, etc. Simple, clean, purposeful, and well thought out material choice. Super excited for the new project.

Great series!, thanks, I really enjoyed it so far. Looking forward to summary cost, especially interested to see all soft costs , permit, plan check, engineers, soil test, survey etc etc. In particular for septic system. And credit list of vendors, engineers if possible.. I love simplicity of design.

Love this series genuinely feel like i could build my own version of a home like this from containers. Exciting how you can innovate it to suit what you would like but you have given me some great ideas I especially love the simple layout of 3 containers with gaps in between iv not seen that around at all mostly its stacked or side by side containers which i like less
@jeffreypierson5082 Жыл бұрын
ferg914, I see your comment was 3 years ago now, lol, and I get the "compound effect" of your point but I kind of like the artistic expression that comes with the stacking aspect that lends itself to this kind of construction. Think Frank Lloyd Wright!

Even outside of California. I think shipping containers are only a cheap option where there is an exemption from building codes and minimum need for climate control. Like emergency shelters etc. Everyone tries to build a dream condo out of them and therefore design all the potential savings over a traditional house right out of them. Don't get me wrong these are really cool and clever houses. But I can't help but feel like compared to a traditional house of the same size it's a lot of extra puzzles to solve just for the sake of saying that it's made out of high cubes.

Hi Ben you and your team did a great job, not only the construction but especially the videos. I've been thinking on a project like this in south Spain. for me the most critical it's about foundations and permitting as the land i'm looking for are not construction permitted, therefore what ever I place there cannot be permanently connected to the ground. Again congratulation for the work and thanks for sharing

What's the point of the shipping container if you're framing anyways you might as well just slap siding up, it seems like more work with all that cutting and grinding and Welding plus the cost of shipping the containers out there and buying the containers seems like a waste of money and time
