Great job. You have put a lot of love in the handicap ramp for your dad. Diabetes is manageable for most. Gangrene got both legs near the knees on my nephew by marriage. Nice indoor wheelchair ramp Myke. To help prevent the wheelchair from picking up speed on the way down or from slipping if coming in from rain or snow, you might want to purchase some Anti-slip tape to put on the ramp. The handrails are a great idea. He could actually pull himself up or down using them if he needed to. Thank you Myke, I care about and think about you all too. Stay happy, healthy, hydrated and safe. May God continue to bless you, your family and your adventures.

The ramp looks great. lucky dad to have someone who can do this for him. angle the edges at the bottom of the ramp so its a smooth transition from ground to ramp. the lip there means your mom or dad might struggle to get on to the ramp. this is good to know i've had people ask me how to do it. what with me being in a wheelchair i guess that means i know how to do things (right leg amputee myself) i understand how your dad felt after the fall i've done the same thing with my prosthetic. not a good feeling to be all bruised up. i hope he's doing ok. it must feel weird to him to be stuck in a wheelchair and not wear his leg.

Thank you so much for this. I’m going to try to do something like this for my daughter. The only tool I have is a drill, so I think I’m going to have to have Home Depot cut the boards if they will. But I was wondering if you did make a video or could explain how to make those bumpers on the side because I live in Connecticut and these are going to be outside Where there’s snow and sometimes I almost slide off the ramps that we have because they’re too thin and they have no edges

Thank you so much for this video. I too, am in need of a wheelchair ramp, but mine would have to be outside leading to my front door, which is a 36-inch wide front door. I also have one step to get onto the outside concrete small porch, and then another small step up at the door to my living room floor. About 5 feet would have to be extended into my front yard if my ramp is 9 feet long. My husband just had heart surgery & is not allowed to lift anything, so we are going to have to have someone build this for us. We both have wheelchairs, but if I had a ramp, I could get in the house by walking up the ramp just using my cane or walker, & it would be so much easier. What state are you located in? Thanks again for the video.

I am frustrated because I can't find a KZbin video that designs a ramp that's close to what I need to build we have a family room and it's a sliding door that opens then there's a steep step what I mean by steep is that when you take your step it's very low step it's a very tall step so we have a box there I wouldn't box that was there when we moved to this place about 30 years ago but I need to fix it to make it handicap accessible the first step is very Steep and then the second step is a brick step and it's a half circle step and then the final step that's not a very steep a very high step but the first one is like the expression goes watch for that first step it's a Lulu so I need to build a ramp but I'm frustrated and how would I build it it can't be long and it can't be steep I considered building a shorter step that goes not so low and then the ramp would start from there but I don't know if that would work it has to pass through an ihh inspection to be accessible and for my mom to be able to climb down the ramp without any problems that's why it can't be steep so I don't know how to what I'm going to do to build this ramp I might have to make some kind of cardboard model or something to get an idea what I'm going to be building so I'm pretty much frustrated at this time
