In this video I will be showing you how to build a custom slat wall cupboard from solid oak and mdf, I also used oak veneered mdf for parts of this project, there are also 3 hidden doors, the cupboard was roughly 1200mm wide and 950mm high,
The cupboard was made to cover the fuse board and a number of electrical boxes, the unit is L shaped to allow the bathroom door to fully open,
I’m really happy with the end result, definitely proud of this one,
Hope you enjoyed the video and thanks for watching.

Stunning bit of carpentry and loved the way that you showed it bit by bit and then how it all came together - liked your thought processes!!

Hello @Bevanna1 They are called push to open mechanism, I got them from ironmongery direct, The product code is 125258 You might also need the cruciform adapter, this holds the push to open mechanism in place, Product code 202020 Anything else, let me know.

Hi Mike - I am doing something similar on an outdoor kitchen. I am struggling with hinges! What type of cabinet hinge did you use and how did you avoid the slats/battens from fouling on each other? Was it just a 25mm gap? Also what thickness was the door? Since mine is outdoors I used 12mm marine ply and was going to fit a 45x19mm batten on the outside.

Hello @thomasashley-smith245 I used kitchen hinges, I will find the order codes if needed, everything was from ironmongery direct, It would probably be best if I could email you a drawing, I’ve just wrote out an explanation but even I didn’t understand 😂 I used 9mm mdf, My slats were around 25mm x 50mm so the total thickness of the doors ended up at about 34mm, The gap between the slats was about 22mm I believe, It did take some trial and error but the kitchen hinges worked very well dealing with all the clearance issues, I hope this helps slightly helps but like I said, pop me over an email if you’d like a drawing sent over, my email is mjpcarpentry@yahoo.Co.uk Thanks 👍

Thank you @jamesdewar-mills1105 I got the oak from JF Goodwillie Ltd, they are just outside Portsmouth, I will try to add the link below, let me know if the link doesn’t work, won’t lie, I’m not great with computers! It is genuinely a timber merchant despite their name 😂 www.goodwillies.co.uk/
