Wondering how to build your home gym? This video will take you through the 5 steps I suggest people take when planning out their home gym. Your gym is an important and potentially expensive place that probably takes up a good amount of space in your home.
The steps aren't necessarily in a specific order, you'll have to be flexible when you build your gym but this guide should help us to avoid mistakes when designing your gym. It doesn't matter if you're making a garage gym, a basement gym, or one in a spare room, these steps should apply. Whether it's budgeting, equipment, lighting, measurement or those other things we all tend to forget until we're facing them, I hope this video will cover the steps and process you can take to make designing your dream home gym a little easier.

Rogue's Zeus gym builder is a great tool for planning the layout of your space, even if you're not buying Rogue equipment. Really nice to pre-visualize everything without trial and error (which sucks when you have to move or take apart and re-assemble heavy equipment)

I've used garage gyms before and I wanted to stay indoors this time, so I turned a 10.5x11 corner bedroom into a home gym. I used Bells of Steel's gym builder. Pick the rack, the bench, and the bar for a discount. Their 7' residential rack was my choice. The legs sit on the floor so I didn't need to anchor into the concrete. I cut stall mats and made a platform 2 mats thick inside the rack and 2 smaller rectangles for outside the rack (think of a + sign). This lets me squat, bench, and deadlift inside the rack and keeps the other half of the room open for floor work. I covered the mats and the rest of the floor with commercial carpet tiles. If one gets damaged, I can peel it up and replace. (I wanted it to look nice since it's in the house.) The plates are hung on posts anchored to the wall studs. I added Bells of Steel's compatible cable attachment at the back of the rack. In addition to the usual row/lat pulls, I can do belt squats with a Rogue everything belt. A Harbinger ankle cuff lets me do hamstring curls and leg extensions. I turned the small closet into an accessories garage. This keeps the visual clutter down in this small room. I'd say my gym is my version of an old man's Corvette! Ha!

Another great Video, That would have been helpful 4 months ago. LOL! Thankfully, I caught your previous set up a gym with $XXXX videos. Having those, the remaining topics outlined here, just came naturally to me. Unfortunately, I realized I was in a "1B phase" when my wife asked me how many plates I could DL and my response was "All of them?!?!?" Wooo whoo!!! I finally got to use that Chuck Norris punch line on myself! Seriously though, I didn't count on my growth happening as fast as I should have and used the dollars to make sure my rack and barbell were the best that I could justify (in my mind anyway).

I am planning on doing a MMA based gym so power rack bumper plates incline decline bench so it can double as a decline sit-up bench with horse stall Mats different types of bars ( curl, trap, general barbell for most movements) then get a collection of dumbells cuz I don’t want to mess with different weight loading between sets two loadable kettlebells cuz I don’t see myself using them as frequently so I’m fine with that and maybe some medicine balls for ab training a treadmill and then I’d probably for the MMA part I’d get a 200lbs 6ft banana bag a double end and speed bag and some foam mats so I can do some bjj and sparring rounds with a round timer oh ya and heating and cooling implements with a speaker amp with Bluetooth built in and some nice speakers
