My personal situation? Rouge Fatboy sled, Wright Amp barbell and bumper set, Rouge T-1 yoke with safeties I also bought rings at this point to this point this was my biggest at once purchase, I chose the Wright basic bench for shipping reasons it's a Rouge clone made in Alabama. I did all this one or two paychecks at a time on a construction workers pay. I'd do it exactly the same if I could do it again. I've since bought a Rouge MG-24 that's worth mentioning because as a lanky guy with a crappy bench and plateaued OHP it was an absolute godsend. In the market for an SSB if yall got recommendations.

Rings. Rings. Rings. It’s the piece I recommend anyone considering a home gym. It may be a bit intimidating, and I get that. But my $30 pair has lasted me 15 years and I’m only now looking to replace them. Definitely got my money out of them and have used them in every variation of my home gym. If I had to choose one thing first, and it was necessary to continue working out while I built a home gym, I'd probably go with dumbbells. Ideally, I'd save up enough to start with a few items like a rack, bench, barbell, and some plates (that's how I started) but a pair of adjustable dumbbells could go a long way. Love the content, man! The gym setup is awesome!

@@betitanfit first I have to say good for you and your company for taking the time and effort to reply. It shows a lot of dedication. As for choosing your company…the majority of my home gym is titan products (X3, safety straps, spotter arms, mono lift, deadlift jack, barbell holder). I do like your products and have seen HUGE improvements made from the first product I purchased (X3) in 2018. Bands are great for knowledgeble folks with a rack, problem is, newbies typically aren’t knowledgeable and don’t have a rack. So many newbie cringe band vids out there! Powerblocks are somehow still underrated. Can do so much with zero footprint + low entry point + good resale value + easy to move/travel = perfect starting point. The most criticized aspect of PBs, the “cage,” are arguably an advantage for someone starting out with nothing - grab the back of the cage for goblet squats, and kettlebell swings, or other kettlebell type movements.

Amen to a single barbell. You watch enough videos and get convinced you need all sorts of variations in bars, when your standard barbell will last a lifetime in a home gym setting. I think you can only justify speciality barbells if a) you lift really heavy and actually need speciality equipment, b) are injured and lack ROM (and often times people aren't injured, they just haven't worked on their flexibility enough), c) you're riiiich biaaatch

Iron Master dumbbells with the 120lb adder kit along with a bench were my start down the home gym journey years ago. They're rock solid, fairly easy to change (though not as quick as Powerblocks), and you can do most exercises. I love rings and bands are really useful but I don't regret starting with these. As part of my home gym ebb and flow (I know blasphemy, but at one point I had 20+ commercial selectorized machines, in addition to two power racks and countless other staples), I ended up with a full set of vintage York roundhead dumbbells on Hammer Strength racks. After years, I actually decided to go back to the Iron Master set along with Powerblocks to minimize footprint. While I loved the York's, I honestly can't say I miss them with this setup. Cheers

Just one piece to start, harnessing all my hindsight, towards the ultimate do-over? Ok, I need to start with the goal, and reverse engineer the ideal data inputs to get there. 1) Goal = To like what I see in the mirror. Bonus points for health and fitness confidence. 2) What do I want to see first? - My high school abs. 3) Let's see - Starting from zero purposeful exercise, I tried +1 sit-up every morning for an entire year and what did that get me? Knowledge every day that year what number day of the year it was, a stronger stomach, and no 6-pack. Ok, I quit after Thanksgiving but still, let's just skip step 3. 4) Hey, here's a workout program that promises to melt fat to reveal abs.. Ok, i'll follow that and skip the part of eating healthier. Damn, that was a brutal summer, only needed a few dumbbells, a chair, some garage space, effort, and it worked, Who knew my stick frame actually had 10 pounds to lose and there's my abs? Too bad I tapped my neck with a CAP iron dumbbell once too often, pinched a nerve, and now can't look behind me without turning around. Several months later of zero stress, neck is ok again, shooting pain down arm is gone, but now my abs are gone, too. Ok, what did step 4 teach me? Crank up metabolism via intense low-weight cardio / fat-burning sessions - and do that safely else risk soon finding yourself back to square one or worse. 5) What else achieves the ab-revealing / cardio upsides of step 4, with much less risk, and extra bonus easy on the knees? The Concept 2 Model D 6) A year later. Give me that SkiErg, too. 7) Another year later - my cardio is tapped out - the only way I can improve is to add power. To add power, I need more muscle in my posterior chain. To achieve that, I need to start squatting and add protein to my diet. Carbs are so much easier to acquire, prepare, and afford compared to vegetables and good protein. And tastier, too. I'll start with just the squats. Let me check the Internet/KZbins for how to get started with that. 8) Hey, isn't that something? I considered health and fitness secondary nice to haves vs primary goal of 6-pack abs. Turns out the cardio-fitness part was a prerequisite, plus it's the first rule of ZombielLand survival, and now global lockdowns due to government reaction to da virus makes everything related to home-gyms either a piece of junk, an arm and a leg, or out of stock. Ok, after all that ramble, what single piece of equipment would I start with in 2022 for home gym from scratch? Probably the Bells of Steel / Fringe Raptor knockoff you beat Coop to the punch on reviewing 3 months ago.

Agree small items ad so much versatility (for the price) and are also a great option if you don't know if home gyms are "your thing". IF you drink the home gym coolaid, then 100% GO power RACK. It'll be the flagship piece, cornerstone, and a great way to build out from there.

Adjustable dumbbells (or just a pair or two to start), adjustable bench, barbell+plates+rack (they can't do much by themselves), bands, cardio stuff, a 2nd bar for convenience, cable machine of some sort and maybe specialty equipment like a leg extension or ghd, then specialty bars, etc... and etc... and etc... as young adult I started with dumbbells, pull up bar and a jump rope. You can do so much with just that.

I started off with a cheap Barbell a cheap adjustable bench 255lbs of iron weight, and a cheap adjustable squat stand all off facebook market place. This was great for awhile and covered most of the movements I wanted to do think most people would do well to start there. To be fair I also bought at the same time a set a dumbells(5-50) and rack for them, a cheap plate tree, and an Olympic easy curl bar at the same time from the same person. All for the price of thr dumbells new. Then shortly after bought a doorway pullup bar. But I wouldn't recommend all of that for most people unless you find a deal. Now I have expanded a ton. And since my job is outside sales and I drive a truck I've been filling my garage with everything from free road finds to yard sale stuff. I've even developed a hobby of cutting up and welding old stuff to make something new and unique for my gym. It's been alot of fun.

TSC horse stall mats, barbell/bumper plate combo, bench, rack, change plates, foam plyo box, chained belt (for hanging plates). That was my order. As per Gluck, I think rings are next, but they have had stock issues lately.

Reps rings seem to be out a decent amount. I actually liked the wood on Titan's better but the non labeled straps I don't love. I left the mats off the list though they really should be first, they're just not exciting on video 😂

I started out with a used eliptical total gym and roman chair. both used and all in it was under $500. added some bands and 3 or 4 kettles bells along the way I was at $600 -700 all in. Looking back, I wish I had gone straight to the Power Rack with lat pull that I have now. Its was under $600 and I have received much better results from it. Now if you add in the flooring, weights, bar, adjustable bench all the attachments, i am still under $2000 all in. THe roman chair is gone and so is the total gym but i still use the kettlebells at least once a week. Next up: Adjustable dumbbells.

If your garage has concrete (or similar) wall it's really cheap to do all kinds wall mounted DIY stuff from raw RHS/L/flat iron. I had DIY wide pull up bar, dipping rack and squat rack made from raw iron bought from my local hardware store and they all cost less than 100$ in total. Sturdy gym equipment can be really expensive, DIY is worth considering if you have some basic tools and craftsmanship. And one thing absolutely necessary in any home gym are big speakers and decent amplifier. Blast that heavy metal and lift, no excuses! xDD
