technically yea surge can hurt a compressor in theory, but it actually takes a good bit of it to really wear anything on the turbo, the main job of the blow off valve is to improve transient or on/off throttle response. when you are making boost and then let off to change gears or something, the blow off valve (when placed correctly like yours is) keeps the air flowing through the system with all of it's momentum so that when you get back on the throttle you don't have to start the air flowing through the whole system again. throttle opens again, BOV shuts and boom! you already have boost waiting at the throttle!

A lot if these car channels on KZbin are mad white washed, and I'm sure not intentionally. But the humor background music and overall vibe of these videos are very Caucasian and a lot of them are great and I subscribe. But its also refreshing to watch and listen to someone who talks like us, is educated, and has a more hip hop vibe. It also good to for small minded people to see we all can have similar interests and maybe it can open their mind to other culture.

liked your video. two things i'd like to ask. 1). how's it run in the rain (hard raid conditions )with the filters under the truck and 2) you have any issues with heat? it looks like you are venting your right side turbo directly into your air pipes and frame.

When you start advancing the ignition, you are igniting your compressed fuel packet a couple degrees sooner before TDC.(top dead center). This ignited packet begins to exert its expansion forces before TDC which gets compressed further up until TDC, allowing for a stronger power stroke. Too much and you begin to knock and backfire.. Yes the advanced ignited packet/charge has higher compression. Easily adjustable with the distributor.

Dam, such a good KZbin channel, you deserve more sub's
@stang_daddy59807 жыл бұрын
and that "sutututu" sound IS compressor surge, if you hear it on a car that uses a BOV then that means the BOV either isn't opening fast enough or isn't letting enough air out. preventing surge isn't the BOV's main job though, so that isnt neccicarily an issue, but if you're wanting better off/on throttle response from the turbo system and are experiencing surge then you can improve the situation a bit by increasing BOV flow and/or speeding up the BOV response with less spring pressure.

Could you build a sort of dedicated oiling system for the turbos ? Say a 2 or 3 qt tank, an oil cooler, and pump(s), located closer to the turbo's location ?
@joeblochlinger5 жыл бұрын
Yes and no. Theres oil less turbo that have a stand alone cooling system. To build your own youd need a tank to hold the oil, cooler, and a pump to cycle said oil. Regulating the oil pressure will be the more difficult thing to do

what are the containers for on the return lines before the scavenge pumps? I've never seen that done, do the pumps have trouble keeping up sometimes? also, my scavenge pump went out at the track about 2 months ago, if i had 2 pumps i would connect the inlets together before the pumps so the system would be somewhat redundant if one of them stopped chooching like mine did.
