Totally agree! I'm 21 and have always rode dirt bikes since I was a kid. Last year, I made my decision to bring my passion on the road by making the A2 license and by buying the bike I always wanted... KTM RC390! I loved it! But unluckily, the engine blew up after 1000 kilometres and had to resell it (second hand, the warranty was expired).. Now I'll be moving on the CBR 650r. I can't wait! Looks sick and reliable, and I hope to keep it for a while 🤞🏻

I recently bought the Daytona 660. I test rode the GSX8R and then the Daytona. It's my first bike. I've had the A license for 10 years, but never bought a motorcycle. As you said, I wanted something that I'm absolute in love with, because it's a hobby not a commuting tool for me.

I like how you talk about don't compare what you have to something else. Especially motorcycles, there are so many bikes out there. Get what you really want for yourself and then enjoy it. Don't look at other bikes after that. I have lived a life of having to move often between different countries and it's easier to sell all my vehicles and buy new ones in my new country of living, I'll take a year or more to shop around bikes before moving and then just enjoy it once I've arrived and purchased my bike. Hoping to be done moving so much soon though.

100% agree whit what u said, i would also say that, as a first bike i kinda recomend a used one for few reasons, like if its your first bike you are probably going to change it 'soon' so you dont lose much value buying a new one. Also you have to consider you are probably dropping the bike while doing low speed manouver and stuff like that so thats another reason i do no recomend a new bike as a starter one. And btw i got my license at 30yo and got my first bike at that age, got a cbr650r just like you, and yeah even this bike its hard to use 100% on the street, i would like to upgrade it sooner or later but i 100% know i will not use it full power on the street. For my first bike the decision making was kinda easy, i wanted an inline-4 engine sportbike under 1000cc, so my choises were between zx6r and cbr650r (cbr600 2024 model was not revealed yet) i ended up buying the cbr for the comfort factor and the lower hp (arround 30) i was told multiple times that 120hp was kinda too much as a starter bike so ended up with the cbr. To be honest i kinda regret it a little bit cose, since io havent rided yet, i could not tell the 30hp was not that much compared to a 200hp literbike and also few month after my purchase cbr600rr was announced and got damn i would have had it so bad xD but yeah i love my bike and how it looks so after all i like it but yeah i dont think it will be my lifetime bike

I have lived in the country that bike comes from for some time now. Bikes are often used here as necessary means of transportation. However, nobody needs a 650 here, we would get it cause we love a particular bike and get a bike that size cause we enjoy the power of it. Anyways, just chiming in that you say nobody gets a bike of necessity, but that depends on which country you live in or where you live in your country. I have spent money on good rain gear because we only have 1 parking spot for a car, so I commute to work on a motorcycle so my wife and kids can have the family car.

You're right, bikes can be a nessecity for some people. I agree with that. I commute with it as well - but for most people public transport can be an option. Especially in rural areas bikes are very useful though! I think if you're purchasing a bike out of nessecity, you are most likely looking at something rugged?

Also been looking at gasgas 700SM but I think I'd enjoy starting off with something cheaper which I think I'd be more confident in modifying.

I think the bike will be just fine for you as long as you aren't scared to push it down, it requires a lot more force than a small bike

Haha its not perfect at all... it's really tough figuring that out. You need a really good dead cat and a good mic. Also your helmet needs to be windproof - part of the reason why I'm buying an NXR2 soon

My first Bike was a Laverda LZ125 And why ? I am a Swiss and we had to ride the first 2 Years a 125cc. I have a Friend, he is 10 Years older than me and he Won in 1974 the German Championship Class125 with a Zündapp 125. I bought the Laverda because it have a Zündapp 125 Motor too and my Friend was tuned it. At last my Laverda was get on a Testbench 22 PS and on the Highway Munich to Starnberg 163 km/h. With the winning the Championship, he got a international Racing Licence and he was going to the EM and some WM Races. So i came with him to Racetracks too and was learning this Job since i started to ride a Bike. After my Study Time in Munich i inscripted in the Swiss Championship in the Honda NSR250 Cup. 1995 i was Vize Swiss Champion in the SSP600 Bridgestone Cup with a CBR600 PC25. And at last Year 2023 i was the Champion in the Thailand Honda CBR 650 Trophy in my Age 63 🥇😉

An other young Man is "Groll", in a few Days he will upload a new Video with a Part i was send him from Thailand a Velocity Stacks. The A2 Bike is restricted with the Stacks but the unrestricted, open Stacks from Honda is not really unrestricted. The Throttle Body have a Diameter 34mm and the Stacks from Honda have 32mm. You know, the CBR650 is built by Honda Thailand, so in Thailand that is a popular and cheap Bike and there can buy a lot of Parts for it. And in Europe is it restricted with the E5 .

Realistically, you're also not using the full power of a 300 on the streets.# My cb500f does 90kmh in 2nd gear, pulling in first is always a bit sketchy, but as we see you can only really rev out the first 2 gears before getting illegal.
