It’s amazing how if you play with a dog, give it structure, show it how to get play food etc and foster them looking to you for guidance and support…they are much better behaved. 2 things though, the dig had excellent focus and trying to engage first person but was indeed excited, but was disconnected and calm with you when he wasn’t interested in treats. Play is amazing and I love getting dogs playing and loose then start adding challenges and training into the mix.

What I see is a dog desperate for direction. Labradors love to work for you. That dog is doing its best to ask its owner what it's supposed to do. That dancing around is not bad behaviour, it's anticipation of a command. Any command.

Good video, another reminder that there are always ways to find workarounds. Will, I would love your insight into teaching a really energetic and hyperactive dog to settle at home. My dog is great on lead thanks to a trainer who went through your teaching (Nana, she's absolutely ace!), and i know crate training is a big part of it, as is "place" and "settle" command training - both of which my beagle/springer cross is pretty happy to do, until the cat shows up or someone in the household starts doing something, at which point he can't help himself but try to be part of the fun even if he's exhausted! He never actually does anything wrong, he's certainly not making bad decisions, he's gentle enough with the cat and just wants to be around people which isn't necessarily an issue - so I'm struggling to find a way to promote settling when he really needs a sleep before his natural inquisitive interest.
