I have a knife thag belongs to my uncle, and I want to carve his name on it. After carving it. What should I do? Is it OK to leave it. Or should I put something over, coat it or something?

It is a good idea to varnish it to protect it from water, if you do not want to change the color of the wood and this often happens after applying some kind of wood varnish I recommend you find a clear coat and test it on the same type of wood to see how it will look

The title says :- HOW to carve a basket weave! It barely shows us anything we need to learn at all, it's just you showing your work as opposed to a teaching video, turned out lovely but taught us nothing

@@cameronmcpeak5183 and you're a fool of you think any craft is so simple that simply observing someone is the same as being taught. Obviously there is plenty to learn from this video, but all we can see is what is done, not why or even necessarily how. Just because the video made it look simple doesn't mean it is. It just means they're a skilled carver.
