Have a square of paper towel when you remove the bag and stuff it in the hole. Then every move you make with the dirty bag won't be spewing dust. Probably best to drop it in a small garbage bag and tie off the opening to seal it. Other wise they are a dust bellows. Buy the washable pleated filters so you don't have to replace them nearly so often. You can also take it outside with an air hose and blow from the inside out to clean the worst off it for reuse if it is not washable. That foam filter is for wet pickup only. There is also the HEPA bags exactly like you show but rated for even finer dust. Not that much more if it is important to keep the area clean.

Hey can you explain what you mean by blow from the inside out? heard that a lot but can’t really visualize what it would like like or what I have to do exactly

Thanks for the recommendation. I have to deal with drywall dust soon and this is what I was looking for. I don't think other cyclone dust collectors will be effective with very fine drywall dust.

There’s usually a little sleeve that covers the hole in the bag before I pull it out to stop the dust from puffing out of the bag

How well does it work on drywall dust? I just bought a Shop Vac brand and those bags. Have been also looking into cyclone separators but I don't think that'll work well with drywall.

It works great. That’s the main reason I started using them. It’s the only way I know to manage drywall dust.

I have been removing a lot of ceiling texture and I use these bags and a cyclone separator. The cyclone catches about 75% of the very fine dust and the bags do the rest.

If you are wet sanding can you use a HEPA bag in your shopvac? My bag and manual for my shopvac says you can't? Then what do you do? And: can one attach a bag to the exhaust port to catch what comes out the back of the shopvac??
