Great job. But just a suggestion. Don't reel when the fish is pulling drag. Every time you turn the crank against drag, you are twisting and weakening the drag. Please don't be angry, as I said just a suggestion. Im not saying I'm any better, just a suggestion. Fish on!

I just recently moved to The pan handle of Florida and really getting into saltwater for the first time, I can’t thank you guys enough for how much you guys are helping me understand it as it’s pretty overwhelming at the start, One request I would love to see and I notice people talking all the time is about specific colors or styles for times of year, how to know that is beyond me. Thanx again y’all really make a difference and I’m sure I’m not the only one that feels that way!

To address everyone's drag comments, if your drag is set loose enough then there isn't enough reeling you can do to effect anything. There is a sweet spot with drag setting that allows you to do exactly what he was doing which makes the fight a lot of fun and a lot of back and forth between you and the fish where it is pulling line but you're also reeling line. That's also why your drag adjustment is right next to your reel handle so you can adjust it on the fly dependant upon the size and the fight of your fish. Drag is a brake and how hard you have that brake set determines how much line the fish can take once it's on. Reeling while a fish is pulling line off your rod doesn't mean you're an idiot, it can mean that in some cases, but in this case he had his drag set correctly to where the fish could pull some while he was able to reel it in some.
@Bham673 жыл бұрын
Thank you. Very helpful. What do you factor in when deciding to fish that jig under a popping cork vs. tied directly to the line? Did something tip you off that the fish were off the bottom, or something else???

But the males do make a drumming noise when they are caught. Hence the name Red Drum.
@MrMd55555 жыл бұрын
@@andrew.lanc3r nobodies arguing that's not their real name, it's just foreign to hear people call it that if you grow up catching them all your life , and 9 times out of 10, it's indicator that the person is not very familiar with the species, or the species is not local to the person. Sort of Like Somebody calling a gator an alligator, usually that indicates to us they are a tourists. Where I'm from on the east coast of Florida when someone refers to a drum, it is typically a black drum being talked about, and the "red drum" is simply termed a red or redfish.. No biggie
