This game must be included as a candidate for game of the year! For Gukesh to have come up with that in a rapid game is amazing!

Such flowing chess from Gukesh, rare to see Magnus be simply outplayed.
@PowerPlayChess2 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't say Magnus was outplayed: Gukesh did really well to create a murky position and Magnus blundered. At that point he actually had a big advantage.

Great classical chess with an extra large portion of ingeniosity shown by Gukesh, as ever pricelessly explained. Indispensable channel here.

As a norwegian, I could lipread some of the things Magnus said to himself when he realized he had played too fast (he had 12 + min left), and was losing, not winning. I can assure you that he would never use so harsh words about a certain Hans as he used about himself.

No, he wouldn't, why... he just ruined his career instead.

I was looking for ways to make Nd3 work and somehow I never considered Qb6. Good find Mr. Gukesh. :)

Brilliant game and even more brilliant analysis as always Mr. King. :) Sometimes when I feel "Oh and what about this reply?" and next moment I see Mr. King analysing it. :) By the way, at 1:54 f4 is not necessary at all. I always automatically play Steinitz's recommendation Ne2!, preparing to play c3 quickly. 19th century chess at its finest. :D Anand and Shirov used to play it too.

Idea - can you start naming the songs after song titles? This could be Bittersweet Symphony (by the Verve), you could use other song titles such as Wow (Kate Bush), Killer Queen (by Queen) and even There's No-one Quite Like Grandma (St Winifred's School Choir - this title could illustrate a game where the pawns are all taken by the Queen, alluding to the fact that grandmas often eat children)

I saw the Nd3 idea, but not the preparation with Qb6 to protect the e pawn.

@@PowerPlayChess I know.i was thinking about you at the match and saying to myself they are a better team than that.What a disapointment...Still,as mark taimarnov once said after getting thrashed by bobby fischer.At least i can still play the piano. (or guitar and bass in your case)

Are you not covering Fischer Random?
@PowerPlayChess2 жыл бұрын
I have had a demanding week, travelling and working, and it hasn't been possible to record anything on the Fischer Random championship. I'll see if I can fit it into my schedule.

@ 3 minutes and 9 seconds after 9.dxc5 I rather like Nxc5 10.Qf2 Ne4 11.Nxe4 dxe4 12.Ng5 Bb7 , still with white at .5+/- but murky as a quagmire... when after 13.Rd1 Qa5+ 14.c3 Rd8 15.Be2 Rxd1+ 16.Bxd1 Qxa2 17.O-O AND Nd8, white has a TEMPORAL advantage and is too quick , so I am now changing to this 9.Bxc5, but at least I really see why after that analysis what Carlsen played is better, but this will take much study now

While you were having your slurp of tea, I played Ng6, and then took my slurp of tea. Did I see everything that followed? Why, of course! ...not. But I wouldn't even have considered Re8. My intuition just told me it wasn't good.
