It's actually not a good idea to put the rim back in the same orientation, you should always turn it, usually rims get warped by shots, so turning it will even out the damage done by shots. It isn't as big of an issue on snares, but it is still a good idea to turn it.

We just got a whole new drumline, 5 basses, 6 snares and 3 sextets in the sexiest sparkling blue ever. We tightened the factory remo heads until they bent sideways, and in the process we cracked two rims on the snares, technique is really important and good heads are crucial!!!!

Any more tips on listening for the pitch? they all sound the same to me
@md271008 жыл бұрын
Timothy Levins if they all sound the same that's a good thing but you just have to train your ears to hear the small differences and make sure to play at piano because playing to loud will also make them sound more similar

How often do you have to Change it?
@cxzmyc8 жыл бұрын
Matthew johnson I do mine once a year but I suggest changing it when it gets beat up really bad and loses sound.

Either every season depending on how often you play, or once every year and a half. That’s what I do anyway

do u have to throw off the snare when u tunning or no
@Drumlinechops11 жыл бұрын
You don't necessarily have to, but it makes it much easier to hear the pitch of the drum if you do :-)

My marching snare head almost sounds like a tenor. I can hear the snares but it gives a tenor sort of sound. I don't know what to do. Can anyone help? It has a Yamaha Batter head made by Remo
@md271008 жыл бұрын
NovaInc. make sure your snares are touching the bottom head and then tune your bottom head. the bottom head is what gives the snare its sound. the batter head does a bit as well but it's mostly the bottom. i like the crank up my bottom head but you can tune it however you like. hope this helps.

why can't you Use a regular drum key I don't understand its just the same thing yours just has longer handles
@bradlivingston43388 жыл бұрын
The longer handles allow you to get more torque with less effort. Using a regular key with a high tension drum can be difficult and you may hurt your hand.
@djchipsahoy79556 жыл бұрын
I personally have used a drum key several times when I’m changing out drumheads and I have never really had a problem as shows the handles are small and it can get a little weird feeling
