How to Change and Focus the HS1177 Lens

I have always just used the HS1177 camera with the stock lens and stock settings, but recently everyone has been having much better picture than me, so I thought I would try a new lens out! Stay tuned for a comparison of this camera with the modded lens and settings VS a stock HS1177.

I use a a glob of low temp hot glue on my camera lock rings and lenses and it works great. Nice focusing chart you have there. I like that and may have to try that on my next focus session. Thanks for the video.

Thanks for the tip, that loctite did nothing (lol) so I just need to tighten the ring more and maybe a little hot glue.

You are welcome, give it a try you might like it. If you ever need to remove the hot glue, just put some isopropyl alcohol on a q-tip and go over the hot glue with it. In a few seconds the hot glue will peel right off with no residue left over what so ever even in the threads.

***** Ok :) When I apply hotglue I make sure to have it hot so it gets a solid bond to it self so it peels off, do you say lower temp so it doesn't melt that plastic?

That is correct. I agree that the temp needs to be hot for a good adhesion but I just have the low temp stuff and I think it would have less of a chance of melting the thin plastic on these cameras.

Be careful with Loctite and plastic it can cause the plaatic to become weak and break because it breaks down some plastic a drop of hot glue works well and easy to remove if needed but will keep it in place.

Yeah, this is sort of between a 2.1 and 2.5 but no fish eye

Great video! one question, after changing the lens on my camera I'm getting reddish video feed , any ideas on how to fix this issue?

You might have to change some of the color settings in the menu, but that shouldn't happen. Dirt get on the sensor?

I had a reddish look until I changed the color. I used Nurk FPV for HS1177 settings. He has a video on it

Either one is fine. I have never used the HS1190.

Yo do u ever have issues with the camera over exposing when doin snappy rolls? my googles seem to just go all white. Even When i land a tad harder than i should the googles go white. any clue to what this is?

Hmm, is there any wires loose on the quad side? What camera and goggles are you using?

thanks man ..i went throught the settings again for about an hr... Tinkering with the day& night setting seemed to do the trick. I left it on "Color". perhaps the sensor was getting confused and switching back and forth maybe i dunno.

using the focus target on a computer screen may be problematic due to the refresh rate of your monitor. May be easier using a HD TV

+The RCAddict Putting Loctite on plastic is a big no no. Maybe it did not melt the plastic but some Loctite (red Loctite I think) can melt some plastics (ABS plastic).

Mine is some low strength safe stuff, so I think mine is ok, but thanks for the heads up. I will try an add an overlay saying to not use it.

No need too glue anything, that ring, if tight wont move, and if you ever are going too change it again you are going too struggle. If you don't have a lock ring, a dab of hot glue will do

Ruudy L Yeah, if you use pliers on that ring it isn't coming off haha, just found that out. Didn't know it could hold that well.

I've used hot glue and super glue and both work. the hot glue does doesn't damage anything but super glue is more permanent and can damage plastic. lock tight it too high tech for us flite test type lol
