How to Change Brake Pads 2015 Honda CR-V

I’m not a mechanic, but I’ve been changing brakes (shoes and disc) for years. Your original pads had so much meat on them. You could have sanded them lightly with 100 grit paper and put them back on. I’d bet the squeal was coming from where the caliper presses against the pads. You might try a dab of “Brake Squeal” paste…Permatex and others make it…on the backing plate of each pad. Also, some brake cleaner on the rotors in case some grease was on them. (Somehow, I'd guess you known all this) But, now that the job is done, you’re right…save the old pads for another time.

Thanks for all the advise! I definitely am going to save the pads to use in the future. Pads were cheap (like $25 for each set) so I decided to go ahead and change them out while I was in there. So far, squeak is gone. I probably could have just put some grease on the pads, like you said, but if I'm going through the effort to pull the calipers off, might as well change 'em out.

Glad you enjoyed it. It depends on how aggressive you are on the brakes. These has about 70k miles on them and still has some life.

So you did it wrong from the beginning , your problem has nothing to do with pads. Wasting time.
