Good informative video! People criticising the procedure forget he's done all this effortlessly with the right tools. Would have taken me that long to get the wheel and caliper off! 😂👍

Who cares about torque specifcations? Not this guy ;) Another thing; why remove the whole thing from the car? You can easily remove the drive shafts on these cars, getting access to the 4 bolt at the back of the hub carrier, without hasseling with the famous bolt at the top. Also I would press the hub onto the bearing before mounting the bearing to the hub carrier. But that's just me ;)

Ya this is way overboard to change a wheel bearing.
@greasystrangler62505 жыл бұрын
I need to replace my wheel bearing in my car. Figured I'd check KZbin for how to do it, and after seeing this, I was thinking there's no way it's this involved. Went on the Audizine forums, and they suggested taking off the axle shaft as you mentioned. I expect this shown method is the Audi way, so you can inspect all the control arms while you're at it.

thanks for the vid I've done my front bearing now but quick question are the rears the same as the front ie bearings and flanges? B7 RS4

The rs4 and s4 use bolted hubs, a4 uses press fit style in the rear, if you have aluminum knuckles its always bolted, you cant use press fit bearings in aluminum.

22:48 subtle "artwork" on the inside of the rim there. This tutorial was great for me actually. I need to take the whole knuckle off to try and hammer/drill/curse out the remnant 80% of that stupid pinch bolt which snapped off on me.

Fair enough, but the Torx will strip a difficult triple square, leaving your viewer in a bind.

GREAT TUTORIAL!!! A few questions....... Is it suitable to use the "blue" thread lock or should I use "red"? Also, I noticed in most cases you re-used the same bolts. When you re-use, should thread lock be applied anywhere besides the wheel bearing and brake caliper bolts? Lastly, what did you spray on the wheel hub at 18:11?
@autodocuk7 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the feedback!The color of the lubricant in this case is not principled, the main thing is that it must comply with temperature and other technical regulations. Regarding the re-use of bolts, you are absolutely right, in practice, only new fasteners should be used, but this video is purely informative therefore some stages of the repairs might have been excluded. Stay tuned and follow our latest updates. Best regards, Autodoc
