Here is a quick guide for changing the start up logo on your NTG1 COMAND unit for a CLS, E-Class, S-Class, CLK, and SL Class.

Incidentally, KillerHERTZ is correct to advise against selecting a different model (eg W240). It really does mess things up! HOWEVER ... you CAN get back to the W211 configuration without a reflash. The '5+3+7' key combo works from the moment you switch on the head unit, even after selecting a non-W211 config. Follow the instructions in the video after pressing 3+5+7 (ie, select the correct option, switch off the head unit, get out of the car, lock it and wait a minute) and you'll be OK. (My car ... a 2009 W211 E320 CDI)

If you carry out the same process again, you will be able to change it, unless you have selected 'Maybach' then you will have broken it as I warn in the video.

Hi Killerhertz. I have 06 CLS55AMG with a failing instrument cluster. cold start takes 3 miles driving to get cluster to start working. Warm day car in sun starts working rightaway. My guess is VDO used lead free solder and i have dry connection issue. Have you come across this? i am looking into getting it repaired. But want to buy a spare cluster on ebay incase repair not possibe. Id like your thoughts on this please. John

Sounds like a dry-solder. Any decent electrical specialist should be able to fix this. Getting it our of the dashboard will be the tough part.

@@killerhertzmercedes Thank you. thats what i think too. Mercedes cannot supply a new cluster. They also refuse to code any part I buy on ebay. Clusterrepairs uk unable to fix. Trying Totaltronics next. Car is fabulous. Im shocked that I cannot get new cluster from Mercedes!!!!

You need one of these: "mercedes viseeo bluetooth module" - this goes in the phone holder and connects to your phone.

Sounds like you have selected the wrong version, you might have broken it. try and select one of the other versions (not the Maybach though!)

Felice Pensato sounds like you changed it to the Maybach version and ruined it. You could take it to mercedes to reflash, but it would be cheaper to buy a new one second hand.

My clk 320 is Australian delivery new , the Radio is all German words , how can I change the radio to English, How do most elderly people understand this car . CLKs are fairly simple by todays standards as they are nearly 20 years old. Try sitting in any modern car! You will need to get it on STAR Diagnostic system/Xentry - from a Mercedes specialist, it will need the country code changing.
