It is pretty hard. They put it in such a ridiculous spot and at angle at that. Just got finished changing mine. Worst placement for a filter!

Hey Mate, its Vic from Sydney Aust. I have the 2018 5.0lt. Hoping this little trick might help you with replacing the oil filter, and hoping you have the same feature on your 2019 as the 2018. Besides undoing the oil flap underneath also take off the passenger front wheel, you should see a flap on the side of the wheel well, pulling that flap up will expose the filter, a LOT EASIER TO GET TO AND REMOVE with less mess by placing your finger over the filter screw hole and remove after unscrewing. Hoping this trick will be helpful. 👍👍

I put SAE 5W-20 GT Premium 2019. Synthetic Blend Motor Oil. Is good? I’m new on this. I went to autozone and they told me it was the best one.

100% synthetic oil will always be the best no matter the brand

Ford says 5W-30 but I used 5w-20 also. It runs a little smoother and quicker. And when it gets warm out it’ll lubricate up. So you’re good!

You have a part number for the metal oil plug ? You say it takes 9.5 quarts, isn’t the capacity 9.5 litres ?

did the filter ever back off on its own? I hear that's what happens when you pre oil the new filter on the gt and mach 1 due to the mass vibration.

I have a gt premium and I alway oil my seal and never had an issue. If you don’t oil the seal. You will have a more difficult time trying to remove the filter next oil change.

You don't need to it makes a heck of a mess allot of the time and never had any problems with any vehicle by not preloading them. With in seconds your car will fill it back up when started.

@@SilverhandS550 in this case know there will always be oil residue in the system, it takes just seconds for that filter to fill with oil. In allot of new vehicles like the 3.6 pentastar engine they use a cartridge filter so there isn’t even a way to pre fill with oil. You will be fine just when you start it don’t rev it lol let it idle for 30 seconds, check your oil level on the stick and fill accordingly

Mustangs are such a piece of junk. I could put up with the engine tick, cheap plastic interior and glitchy electronics, but that crap Chinese manual 6 speed in the GT was the last straw for me! Sold the Mustang after 2 months! I bought a real car, with a quality transmission and couldn't be happier! No wonder Ford stopped making cars...I guess we should all be thankful for that! Best way to fix the tick is to sell the POS!
