Thanks for video. It is very educational. Didn't know you can do the oil extraction and it works. It is a lot of work to clean up at the end. I ended up use the old fashion way by draining the oil using this tool DorMan Oil Drain plug Removal tool (49822). It is the same one i found on Amazon "VAG Plastic Oil Drain Plug Screw Removal Installer Wrench Assembly Tool Wrench Tool OEM T10549" and "5 Pack Oil Drain Plug 06L103801 for Audi A3 VW.

Great video and thanks for posting. I know this engine is in a lot VW/AUDI parts. I didnt realize how laborous this use using tradition method of putting car on lift. I notice these engines burn a bit of oil if you change in 10k intervals. Thanks again for posting.

Quick question I just got an Audi A3 2016 I wanna know what type of tool or socket is required to take out the oil from the bottom ?
@grumbholt6 жыл бұрын
you need this tool, you can't extract the oil from the bottom, you need to do it from the top with this Oil Extractor in this video. He has links in the description
@Steve-tf1wv5 жыл бұрын
@@grumbholt This isn't true. You need to remove a plastic air dam, so it is kind of annoying, but it's still very possible (and maybe preferred to get all the little buts out) to drain from a drain plug under the engine.

yes you can but it requires a certain tool for removing the plastic drain plug
@garymathe98632 жыл бұрын
@@braxtonmay391 That tool is a flat head screwdriver. I know they make a specific removal tool but it's absolutely NOT necessary. Of course you have to jack up the car (I just use ramps) and remove the belly pan which is held on by a bunch of screws.

Hi great video. First time I've heard of or seen an oil extractor. Just wondering if you sped up the video because I only saw you place two liters and a bit in? Also, will this be the same procedure for a 2018 Audi A3? Thanks!

Soooo I only got 4.5 quarts out. I sucked all of it out I could even sitting there pumping for like 5 minutes after it started to sound like a drain. Kinda worried, is it normal to miss oil like that?
@kawilifezx10r234 жыл бұрын
Audis run hot some of the older models burned oil slowly its common but to varying degrees. Id your that worried next oil change just drop the skid plate and take out the drain bolt.
@SonsofSpeed4 жыл бұрын
It’s not uncommon for Audi engines to consume oil. To be safe, you should check the oil on refill with a quart to go and keep checking every 1/4 quart or so to make sure you don’t overfill. If this continues to be an issue, just check your oil every month or 1,000 miles to keep a closer eye on consumption.

Not to be a pain, but do you have the 2.0 or 1.8 engine?

You should get the 0W-40 Castrol ... The 5W-40 does say it’s ok for the 502.. but why would they make a different one if the 5W was just as use specific? ..and they’re same price

I have an Audi A3 Sedan 1.4T FSi SE Stronic 2014 model.. is this oil change procedure the same..?
@SonsofSpeed5 жыл бұрын
We believe that 1.4L engine has the filter down below. We actually have a VW Jetta 1.4L oil change video coming very soon, and since VW and Audi use the same engines, the procedure there should apply to yours as well.

@katierossi16893 жыл бұрын
Never mind. Do I really beed an oil extractor I can’t just do it the old fashioned way??
@SonsofSpeed3 жыл бұрын
@@katierossi1689 it becomes a lot more difficult to drain the oil from below as you have to remove the belly pan first, and you may need to buy a new drain plug and crush washer. That’s why the dealer extracts the oil from above - they’d rather not bother with all that. Audi actually designs the engine to change the oil from above. That’s why everything you need is up there. An extractor is a good investment for any garage, too.
