How to change oil in Ford F150 without making a mess. I've read about guys draining the oil and getting it all over the floor due to the side mounted drain plug. A large offset funnel makes the job quick and easy.

Great idea. I’m just getting around to changing my 19 for the first time and just happen to have that very same funnel. I’ve been changing my own and doing my own wrenching for 50 years and still never cease to be amazed at how they FUxxUp simple things in ways we never dreamed possible. Simple things like a drain plug should stay that way unless there is a real need to change. As for plastic to make a drain plug really sets a New record for junk. I wonder how many of those have failed because owners never replaced the plug over the years and they got brittle as plastic does when under that hood given time🤔. Good job on he video 👍🏻

a fumoto drain valve is ur best friend in this situation changing ur oil. Also, hopefully those old red ramps have the proper weight rating (kinda sketch). Nice video.

@@carlovanrijk4039 👍🏻ALWAYS a backup positioned near the Squishy things work area under there. I always left a floor Jack or stack of6x wood ricks under a car. With a high enough truck not so important

I have the same truck. Let me strongly recommend a stahlbus oil drain plug. Ive had it for 4 oil changes already and its great.

I installed a FoMoTo valve, drains straight down. A little slower + I have a aluminum oil pan.

I used to work in a lube shop and it was common to take that skid plate off. It’s made of fabric so when they get wet or full of mud they break up and fall apart

Toyota has those plastic junk oil filters mounted upside down beside the oil pan on most. So much fun that they are at least seem ing to be going back to the cans👍🏻. You really have to wonder what these people are thinking when they design this stuff sometimes. The top mount is OK but that bottom is an oil fountain as often as not.

I curse Jim Farley and his stupid ass engineers every time I change the oil in my '17 F150 3.5L EB. Dumbest design I've ever seen and I've been changing oil on my cars for the past 40+ years. I've used your method since my second oil change (learned my lesson after the first) and it still makes a mess. For reference, on our 2017 Golf 1.8t I can change the oil and filter in less time it takes me to pull out the ramps and drive up them, and not get a drop of oil anywhere I didn't want it to go. I didn't catch what engine you have but based on the filter number it's a 3.5L EB also.
