By far one of the best videos on this. Half the time people are talking way to much and not showing how to actually do it. 👍

Great video. Before I pressed the piston back, I opened the brake reservoir lid, pressed the piston back, reassembled everything and then put the reservoir lid back on. I pressed the brake pedal several times and then drove it. It's fine however the pressure on the pedal is not as strong as it was. What can I do to fix without bleeding the hoses which I didn't need to do?

Great video. I struggled today trying to remove both caliper bolts but the space was so small that I could not get into it using 7mm hax 3/8 drive socket. Instead I can use the way you showed in the video - so much easier! All I have seen so far is 7mm hax with round driver head for 3/8 but I need the one you showed in the video. What's the exact name of the one you use please? Many thanks!!!!

@@autodocuk Don't pretend that you're actually reading the comments, because you're completely ignoring the questions that are asked. Gennadly, it's a 13mm combination wrench I believe.

He made a big mistake by letting the brake caliper hang by the rubber brake line. That is dangerous and could damage the brake line. The proper method is to hang the caliper by a bungee cord. Never let a brake caliper hang by the brake line as shown in this video.

Euro vehicles use ultra lightweight calipers so no damage is going to be done. But what he was sloppy with was no greasing the slide pins or the brake pad ears to ensure smooth braking

Does the piston need to be rotated as well as compressed back into the caliper?
@autodocuk
@autodocuk 6 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your feedback! Thats right, To install a caliper for new shoes, the piston must be pressed back into the caliper a special tool as shown in the video. Rotate the piston during installation is not necessary. Best regards, Autodoc.

Shouldn't the fasteners be tightened to torque specs? Should certain parts (like guiding pins and pads mating surfaces) be cleaned and greased? This looks like a professionally produced video, why not give professional advice?

Don't forget to release the parking brake before attempting to remove the rotor. Otherwise it will NOT come off the hub, and you'll spend an hour beating it with a hammer and cussing. Ask me how I know.

You're letting the caliper hang with its brake hose putting too much strain causing it to crack. Torque on caliper and bracket bolts? Dumb video.
