glad you posted this. After TWO' shops took my working equipment off and put on old rusted and crusty materials that made grinding sounds, I'm gonna replace everything from calipers to brakes to fluids front and back. Never done it before so I'm looking for videos to give me a heads up on what I'll find :)

Glad it helped. This Honda Accord makes less noise with factory pads vs aftermarket pads in my experience.

Did it plenty of times, but i NEVER once had to mess with the bleeder screw, just loosen the brake fluid reservoir cap & SLOWLY 🐌screw in the caliper piston, using the proper tool, it can be done with needle nose pliers or other tools, but the correct tool will save time & frustration....
@thomasfixit79313 жыл бұрын
True, can be done with needle nose pliers sometimes. I have done it before that way, it is getting older now and was tight. When I bleed the brakes it is like getting a brake flush, good to have new brake fluid as the car gets older.
@samfeldman15082 жыл бұрын
You should get in the habit of bleeding off fluid when compressing pistons. Brake fluid is hydroscopic which means it absorbs moisture over time. That moisture results in brake fade (it boils off) and corrosion of brake components. I don’t bleed them but do as I say not as I do.😜🤪. Do you clean and regrease slide pins?

Huh?

I used regular old waterpump pliers (Channellock's) and screwed that caliper piston in no problem.
@mikeike71149 ай бұрын
@racyfreeman317 hi. So after that just screw the brake fluid reservoir back on? You don’t have to “bleed” the system? Also, what happens if some brake fluid does spill out? Just refill with some new fluid and that’s it? One thing that’s nor mentioned is the Last step is to PUMP the brakes, right? After each brake replacement, or can wait until both sides brakes are completed? Thank you.

Thanks for the vid I just want to ask tho With the rear brake pads, theres two options. One with a pin and one without. Which one should i get?

Your videos are good at explaining the problem and how to fix that problem. I have 2003 4 cylinder i I placed a general car cover over It and about 2 yrs ago. I plan on returning to that that car and maybe try to add some hp and other mods because it’s in in very decent shape. First question; :before covering the car up the car I never add Some sort of a fuel stabilization and I’m not sure if I should drain all oil and them add new oil and caps. What are your thought?
@thomasfixit79314 жыл бұрын
If I had a car sitting for that long I would have added a fuel stabilizer (Startron) before I let it sit. I would change the oil before I drive it again.

I had took out that spring that sits in the bracket how can I put it back in? And is it necessary? I thought the caliper wouldn’t fit because of it but my guiding pins were seized

It has been awhile but here still $upporting with watch time & 👍 #5. When I called Honda about a fuel pump, they told me & I quote " Honda fuel pumps do not go bad", but they do sell them. 🤔 Stay well, Joe Z

@jahnkaplank8626 Жыл бұрын
you probably fixed it but I'd check the cable slack first, maybe it's time to pull it tighter. How did you fix it in the end?

If the caliper piston won't compress, maybe you have a bad brake hose

NEW PADS ON NOT SO GOOD ROTORS, I WOULD HAVE JUST DID THE WHOLE THING, ONE SIDE IS WEARING THAN THE OTHER
@thomasfixit79313 жыл бұрын
If you have the money to spend, replacing pads, rotors, and even the brake hose on old cars is a good idea.
