Great video, Maybe as an addition show views how to reset the “change oil soon warning”. It’s easy to do but not widely available information. Hit the start button with foot off the brake, wait for the lights, push the gas pedal to the floor 3 times. Took me a few times to get the timing right. Cheers !

All you have to do is hold the select button on the steering wheel under the oil life selection and it resets to 100%

PS: I changed my oil/filter just now on my 2013 ATS 2.0Turbo. Thanks for the great video. This was the first time I've ever primed the filter. What a great idea. Why didn't I think of that? Thanks, Backyard Chevy guy!!!

That's awesome to hear..great job ur oil change...yea the sooner the engine can build oil pressure the better it is for the engine..and filling oil filter with oil helps that out as much as possible. Thanks again for appreciating the video and my channel:)

Great video.. Just make sure to always do the oil filter first before draining the oil.. Just a rule we always followed in the shop.. Especially if you end up with a shitty filter that won’t come off..

What's that orange looking crust on your oil cap? And why add oil quarts at a time? Just asking cuz book calls for 6qts on the 2.0 motor. Good video
@backyardchevy328
@backyardchevy328 6 жыл бұрын
Looks like the seal picked up the color from the aluminum and the crusty part is just the rubber...and I always check it after a few quarts its habit to make sure I don't overfill, like say u don't get all the oil..u may need 5 and half or even less so I always check to make sure...even on some cars ive noticed manual could say 6.5 quarts and it only needed 5 quarts like on the manual for the Malibu.

Have you tried the dexos1 generation2 oil in your ATS yet? It's available as mobile1, and there is a leaked GM video on KZbin where they talk about its benefits including better mpg, and they made vague reference to a GM turbo engine that under specific driving cycles, the turbo would build up residue, where the generation 2 oil does not, and resolves this issue. I am sure it is our ats 2.0t engine they are referring to!! My car will be done with dealer oil changes next year where I will try it out.

Btw, the case has the green dexos1 logo with the words "gen2" after it.
@backyardchevy328
@backyardchevy328 6 жыл бұрын
Dexos is a GM specification, meaning the oil passed a certain requirement and it meets GM Specifications...but i have used the oil with that logo on it but have never actually looked to see if it made a difference in mpg or anything else...but id love to hear back if u do notice it make a difference in ur ATS:) and thank you for ur input.
