Excellent vid, as usual. At 75 years of age I have given up riding cafe' racers and finally got a REAL scooter, A Vespa (GTV 300.) About drifting the bearings in, at the BMW motorcycle factory, they sit the new bearings on a piece of dry ice (available at most large grocery stores: Safeway, Luckys, etc. to shrink it for fitting. It's clean and easy. And when the bearing lands "home" there is a definite change in tone when you tap it into place. I'm not doing the wrenching I used to, but I still enjoy seeing how things are made. First class entertainment for me! PS. Dry ice is dangerous, it will burn your skin off in a second. It's necessary to transport dry ice in a Styrofoam container.

Great video. I used it to change mine. Bought the bearing from you guys, arrived fast to Australia. I was lucky and hand no issue with removing the swing arm off the axel. Rubber mallet and wiggle wiggle. I used a heat gun. 60 secons for each side of the swing arm. 36mm socket but i reckon a 35 would be better. All up, easy job. Thanks again.

You can also put the new bearing in a closed plastic bag and in the freezer the night before you plan to install it, the cold will shrink it and make it easier to install, not necessary but helps

Great video . I changed many wheel bearings on semi trailer duals. Brought back some old memories. Thanks Robot!

I've been doing it for years with sockets. Works fine on everything from wheel bearings, to crankcase bearings.

I was very jealous of this silky-smooth demonstration of the heat-and-tap removal process. My bearing's outer race was corroded into the swingarm after 13 years of harsh treatment by previous owners. After the inner race and bearings were broken out, the outer race had to be cut out with a Dremel and a LOT of very bad language. The proper swear words to use on specific jobs would be an interesting future video subject.

Hello, I am using 2013 model vespa gts 250. During a long journey in 2017, I started hearing a caterpillar-like noise from the front. This sound comes when traveling at a certain speed. I only hear it when driving at 70 90 km/h. While pushing my front wheel left and right, a gap caught my attention. So the wheel wobbles a little where it stops. Will this be fixed when the bearing on the front is replaced? At the same time, the handlebar vibrates when driving with one hand. Will all these problems be fixed if the bearing is changed? Soryy Google translate

Won't the seals melt in the new bearing when it goes into the hot alloy ?
@tenders3 жыл бұрын
They only tend to do that when they're hit with direct flame. There seems to be enough thermal mass in the races, rollers, and grease to dissipate the heat to prevent scorching (and ignition of the grease).

These videos suck. The only thing I learn is to keep my hands off my rig. Just pay a professional.

If you come to that conclusion after viewing these videos, then they're successful.
