Good video dude. Thanks very much. Found my problem thanks to your video. I had a joiner between the coil and condenser which ended up having loads of resistance. So it would discharge fine at the joiner area, but wouldn’t discharge at the coil end. Legend.

awesome how to vid. thanks so much for taking the time to post that, both with a good and bad condenser.

Thanks Adamz, good video, I believe 'OL' on the multimeter stands for Open Loop.

OL stands for Open Line... but you were close enough. Just thought I'd clarify 😃

@@ka0skontrol504take a look at the information with the meter actually OL means overloaded in any selection of the meter Cheers open loop open circuit meaning just slang meaning the same thing

nice explanation...others only test the ohm not when discharging

Thank you this really helped out am working on old outboards. So the slower and the more volts it holds back is a bad capasitor. Thanks again.

Yeah thats pretty much the just of it. Glad it helped!!

You can go to capacitance measurement mode by going three clicks right past your ohmmeter mode. A direct reading is definitely much easier than waiting for voltage to drop from a charged capacitor.😂

Was kinda thinking you were going to show how many farads it is supposed to be. But your meter doesn't even measure farads

sorry but those #s dont mean anything you can not test a capasitor with an ohmmeter they are rated in micro fareds you need a microfared meter to test them my trk need a 27 micro fared capisitor for max current to spark you can install wrong value it will work to a degree but causes your points to pit --- check if the points are pitting ---wrong or defective capisitor swap it out

will a motor run with a bad condensor.. im trying to set my timing with a light and battery but it doesnt dim the light.. bike runs, but not well
@AdamzGarage Жыл бұрын
It can actually cause a weak spark, which will cause rough running .
@randy1ization Жыл бұрын
@@AdamzGarage the spark seemed strong when I tested it, but under load it may have been breaking down. im wondering if the ignition caused the backfiring.. im thinking that the H model with the flywheel weight timing advance set up may not be as refined as the ones without. levers under spring tension that kick out from centrifugal force that varies the inserted lobe doesnt seem too accurate?

Nobody does this with it in the bike :/
@ka0skontrol5042 жыл бұрын
That's because of two reasons. One, it makes it more complicated and two, different bikes have different configurations and some if not most of them use the body of the condenser as the negative point on it. Basically, it means that you would introduce too many extra variables by trying to test it while it's still bolted to the bike.
