Thank you Ryan / Parts Dr. for making these videos regarding the issues and fixes for the Samsung ice box. I adjusted the "position of the ice maker water line" and it corrected the excessive water / ice at the bottom of the ice box floor. The initial installation of the water line was pushed beyond the correct position inside the tube. As a result, water was sprayed all over the ice maker and dripped down towards the auger and ice would formed in half a day. In a week, it will build into a small ice berg inside the ice box and the ice bucket will not pull out until thawed. This was my fix for now and hopefully it's a permanent fix.

@@PartsDr The position adjustment of the water line was the fix for this Samsung ice maker. The ice box was inspected after 13 days and was free of any ice buildup on the ice maker, auger and the base of the ice box. It seems the operation of the ice maker is working but for how long with all the issues reported. Thanks again for the fix.

I think this finally fixed our ice maker. The tube on ours was pushed in real far where it was maybe 80%. I backed it out to about 20% and now I'm not longer getting ice forming. I also replaced the actual ice maker last year but that didn't seem to help much.

Good afternoon and TY for what you do. My water dispenser is not working in the Freezer section. The fridge motor had a high humming sound as if it was working hard. I cleaned the coils in the back. Very little dust. I defrosted the fridge for 12 hours. In the morning I kept the bottom door open for a couple of hours to make sure no ice buildup. Little water was at the bottom of the fridge. I cleaned the water before I turned on the fridge again. The fridge works well in every section. The humming sound disappeared and the fan is running well. However the water dispenser in the bottom freezer section is not dispensing. The freezer works well. The ice and water on the door works well. Please advise. TY

Brilliant.. I called Samsung and although out of warranty they knowit is an issue and repaired it.. mine was fixed this week and manufactured in Nov 2016 so was 6 months out of warranty.

Awesome video! This ice maker has been a nightmare! The last company that came out replaced my ice maker and adjusted this tube. Now I’m having issues with slushee ice and based on the information from your other videos I managed to remove the ice maker and auger. During this process I noticed that as you mentioned in this video, some of the plastic pieces in the ice compartment are deformed due to the last tech using a heat gun to speed up the removal of ice buildup. They don’t want to own up to it so I don’t know what to do. I found the compartment online but don’t know how to remove it, if it’s even possible. At this point, if I can’t replace that compartment, I will just purchased an under counter ice maker. Please help!

Usually the pieces that get warped/deformed from using a heat gun are not replaceable. Sometimes the piece of plastic will have a part number on it, but the part usually isn't a part available to order from Samsung.

Parts Dr I used my phone and took a picture of the part number and name from the inside of the ice compartment. I found the assembly(DA97-13405A) through the Samsung/Encompass site but I have no clue how to remove the old one. Just wondering if you have some insight as to how it’s attached.

All the condensation is in the area where the two water hoses enter to the refrigerator coming from the water valves. I hope you can make me a suggestion how to fix this. I already check the temperature settings and they are as per the manual.

My samsung keeps producing a lot of condensation on the exterior, right in the part where the ice maker is. I sealed the cover with silicone but the problem remains. Great video, thanks for that. I went through this process due to ice buildup and removed auger too. After cleaning out and sealing box...I get no ice. If I hit reset, ice make dumps ice...but won’t otherwise. Any ideas?

Often times if the ice maker and ice maker compartment get iced up it causes the ice maker to fail because the ice maker can't turn properly and it internally ruins the ice maker.

Would incorrect water line position cause water to leak inside the fridge body? I am having an issue with water leaking from the top of fridge, around the housing for the door water line. Had tech come out and he confirmed the problem is coming from the ice maker water line and somehow water is getting in between the insulation and the top of fridge. Very weird situation, he said he has never seen this problem before and had no way to fix it. Fridge is only 2.5 years old and just out of warranty.

I have been using your company now as my go to place for parts. I'm in the business Love that I can offer a protection plan on parts. This is a great video and the only one that covers the fill line. I've got a unit that's a RF4267HARS/00 . The fill tube is completely out. does it just slide in like this newer model. I thought there may be a push in connector that held it in place but in video you mentioned a Stop of some type. When I push hose in I feel a spring action ( the reason I thought this was a connector) I don't see a retaining push in connector on the back.. will have to check parts diagram.

I am trying to determine if my supply line has iced up as well. The tube position looks pretty good but I wanted to know if it is okay to completely pull the water line out from the back of the refrigerator where it goes to the ice maker and check to make sure there is no Frozen ice? Or, if I pull it all the way out will I be unable to get it put back in correctly?

If yours matches the one in this video, you should be able to pull it all of the way out and put it back in without any issues.

@@PartsDr although I am concerned that the ice maker is just dead. I have defrosted everything, sealed around the ice compartment with silicone and put the new kit around the cooling element but when I try to use the reset button on the ice maker I don't hear the motor running nor do I ever get a beep. Unplugged the refrigerator for a few seconds and plugged it back in and tried again and don't get anything from the reset button. I've also insured that the ice maker is selected on on the control panel of the refrigerator. Nothing.

@@aaviator Those are common symptoms of a bad ice maker. Unfortunately, we are not able to do any troubleshooting for you over comments.

My (Samsung fridge) ice maker isn’t even dumping ice. The water dispenser is dispensing water fine. The filter isn’t that old. This has been a problem on and off for some time now (more so off/not working a lot lately rather than working). I had actually went ahead and added a tee fitting to the supply (gray line) up to ice maker. Which by the way what is the blue line up there?? Anyway I added a tee fitting and an extra line with a valve- thinking the lines were never bleeding the air out properly up to the ice maker. Turns out I don’t get any water up in that line even without any ice in the bucket. Can you please tell me what this tells you? Is the solenoid that opens water up to the freezer not working but is to the water dispenser? Is that possible?

At 3:03 of the video you say that the water line is in the correct position but it is very difficult to see the position, it looks like it completely fills the cavity, is this correct? My fridge is leaking substantially from the top of the fridge while it is filling the freezing compartment but the water does not stop filling it just keeps leaking out the top rather than filling the freezing compartment of the ice cube maker. At 3:03 it is only inserted a little bit into the cavity. Inserting it too far can cause issues.

We just had our ice maker replaced but the cubes in the mold of the maker are freezing together. When I press test button sometimes the cubes will drop in bucket but many of the cubes are frozen together. I thought maybe it just needed the water level adjusted but idk

Great video as always. Question: I have an icemaker that was working fine for many years, now I suspect the icemaker water line may have mineral buildup. This may be causing a pressure increase which means water is sprayed instead of poured into the icemaker. Is there a way to fully remove the water line and check it without removing the icemaker? I know you can adjust it from the back, but can you pull it out to inspect the tube? Also, I'm very concerned about removing the icemaker for fear of damaging the coil. Is there any way to see the icemaker water tube end with the icemaker in place? Maybe using a mini flexible camera? Thanks for the great videos!

The water tube will pull all of the way out of the back. You could probably use a small inspection camera, we have never tried.

I am working through the same thought process (I am hoping for a reply from PartsDr). In my case the auger still works, and I am thinking that my problem may be in the water control solenoid. In my fridge it is part of the water filter container, and has a multi-plug, so without a wiring diagram I can't "jump" a current to the solenoid to see if it works. In regards to seeing if water is coming out of the line to the ice maker, there is a video on U-tube (kzbin.info/www/bejne/p4bFnYKkpNJ7frs) that shows how to take the ice maker line out the back of the fridge, so you could put the line in a jar and hit the reset button to see if there is any water. However, assuming the reset button in the ice maker does signal for water, if you push it a couple of times, I would expect water to overflow from the ice maker. I am not sure if the problem is the solenoid or the computer board, both of which are expensive, so looking for some guidance on how to fix this without just blindly replacing parts.

You will have to troubleshoot and narrow down the problem. It can be a bad ice maker, bad water inlet valve inside the filter case assembly, bad main control board, or many other things.

@@PartsDr Thanks for your answer, I did some troubleshooting, i narrowed down the problem to the water supply to the ice machine, the water in the door does work so the inlet valve seems to be working its just not getting water to the ice machine. The door and the ice machine share a water supply line (only 1 line out of the inlet valve) and no clue where to go from here.

@@PartsDr Thank you for your quick response. The water line appears OK. Does the icemaker send a signal to enable water to flow to the icemaker? If so I suspect the problem is the icemaker. For the past 6 months or so I've had to cycle power on the refridgerator to get the icemaker to make ice at all. Then after a couple of weeks it would stop -- even without ice buildup causing it to stop - and I'd have to recycle power again. My suspicion is it isn't sending that signal to the icemaker to start the water flowing into the icemaker. When I try and reach into the icemaker, I can't feel any evidence of water in there.

Have you checked to see if the line is frozen? If it is frozen you have a leaking water valve and will need to replace the filter case assembly and thaw out the line.

I have completed sealing the ice room and checked the function on most other parts, however I’m getting small ice cubes and really poor ice production (only 2-3 cycles per day). Do you have any thoughts? Since my ice wasn’t used in a year or so due to frosting issues I’m wondering if that may have something to do with it?

@@scottyyyyyyyy Pretty hard to troubleshoot that problem in a youtube comment. It could be a water supply issue since the cubes are small. It could be a bad water supply from the house to the refrigerator, bad water inlet valve (filter case assembly, bad ice maker, bad main control board, or possibly something else.

Is it possible to remove the ice maker and keep it out for good? With no water coming into the ice maker area? Our ice machine has been off at the panel for Months, but the inside of the ice maker housing continues to build up ice. We have an iceberg in our ice maker.

We haven't tried running the refrigerator with the ice maker removed. It might throw an error code if it doesn't sense the ice maker.

Quick question, do you know what size of tubing those lines are? I want to pipe my RO unit into my fridge for use as water and ice. It has quarter inch OD PEX tubing coming out of it.

You would just run the RO water line to the inlet on the back of the refrigerator. The inlet line on the refrigerator is usually setup for 1/4". Make sure to check the owners manual to see if the refrigerator is compatible with an RO system and any specific instructions for RO.

I used your instructions for tuning my icemaker, and it worked great for 3 weeks, but now I have a different problem. After a series of power outages, the icemaker has stopped making ice. If I press the icemaker reset, it will eject ice, fill the tray, then ding. But it will not continue to make ice on it's own. After 24 hours, no ice, so I hit the icemaker reset again, ice drops, fills, and bing. But after another 24hrs, no ice. So I have to reset the icemaker every 2 hours now? I tried a diag by pressing the top 2 buttons, all lights lit, no error codes, back to normal. I also tried a power off reset, still no ice. Any suggestions?

Check to make sure the temp in the ice maker compartment is reaching 15f or colder. If it is cold enough, then it could be a bad ice maker, bad main control board, or something else as these ice maker systems consist of a lot of components that all work together.

@@PartsDr It's hard to get a reading with the door open and tray out, but I'm getting 13-15 if I point towards the back of the icemaker, 17 pointed towards the metal auger spinner. Should I try lowering the fridge temp a bit? It's set to 40. I also replaced the filter when this happened.

When you are pulling the hose from the back how do you know if its in far enough or not? Mine gets iced up every 14-20 days a d i have to defrost it twice a month

You will either need a second person to help you, or slide in the tube a little bit at a time and check it until you get it right.

You’re looking at the horizontal clear tube. The small one right in the middle of the two circles. That tube should be, I’ll say, 1/8” visible. Mine was originally not visible at all. You just want to see a tiny bit of it.

My only complaint is it's hard to see exactly what the correct position is in this video....is it supposed to be a 1/4 back? 3/8? Also is there an issue with too much water pressure? I have a constant pressure system and often hear water hammer on my other appliances (I have an anti hammer valve on my fridge water supply)

While I have had the problem with the ice maker freezing up (about once a year), I have a new problem. The ice maker was working, but then there was no ice being produced. The compartment is cold, but it seems there is no water getting into the ice maker (new water filter, and water dispenser is fine). I have tried to get my fingers around the side of the ice tray, and can't feel any water present. Tried a number of things (forced defrost, unplugging the fridge for 15 minutes to try to reset the whole fridge). When I press the test button at the side of the ice maker unit and get the initial chime, but no follow-up chime to say the ice maker is working. Is this likely a problem with the ice maker (DA97-15217D (current part is - A), or would it be the control board.

I have the situation and same question. Machine will freeze a cup of water the size of an ice cube. Auger does not turn and there is no sound of water flowing into unit after reset so I am thinking the sensor in the unit is bad and not telling the motherboard to send water tho the unit in which case I need tho replace the ice maker. Can you confirm?

I did fix my problem by replacing the ice maker unit in the fridge (~$130). Spent more time looking at video's, and one of Part Dr's video's shows how to read out the error codes, which also pointed out a failure of the ice maker. The new ice maker is an easy install. I have changed my operation of the unit now and turn off the ice maker once I get the compartment filled with enough for a couple of weeks. I think (hope) this will eliminate the problem of the the ice holder becoming a solid block of ice due to repeated defrost cycles. BTW, I did have a deformed piece of plastic at the back (just above the auger drive) that I had to break off in order to install the new ice maker. This was about a month ago, and so far no problems.

Have you checked your water supply line to the refrigerator? Your problem you are describing doesn't sound related to the repair in this video.
