Over the past several years, an ongoing landslide has intermittently closed part of the Denali Park Road, requiring a massive effort by the National Park Service to keep the area safely maintained for visitors and staff. In the summer of 2024, construction will continue on a bridge bypassing the landslide. During construction, visitors will have access to the first 43 scenic miles of the park road and lodges in Kantishna will operate as fly-in only lodges.

Man I am so confused. I am making a trip to Alaska in September, however I would like to stay inside Denali but not too far in. What would you guys recommend?

There are only three lodges inside the park, and they are at the very end of the park road (about a 6 hour bus ride). The other hotels are located just outside the entrance. Here's the list of lodges broken up by area! www.alaska.org/destination/denali-national-park/hotels

You can forget this because it is closed at mile 45 due to road collapse.

The road will be closed until they finish the bridge. Meanwhile, the park entrance hotels are open, the park road tours go into the park and turn around before the closure, and the backcountry hotels are operating as fly-in properties instead of drive-in.
