Nicely done Mr. Mills and Mr. Denton on this Satori 101. I was in search of a Utilitarian Trad bow that would not make me cry if I scratched/dinged if out bow fishing. Ya gotta love the fit and finish of some of our wooden bows out there. Guess what? The Satori is a work of art as well. Bring on the Satori 102 sequence!

Traditional archery has boosted my love of archery all over. I've learned a ton and had fun playing around with different setups. Set your stands lower, always carry a field tip to shoot one practice shot before getting out of the stand. My field tip arrow also has a painted line on it marking brace height so I can continually check it. Trad bows just don't shoot the same if brace height is off.

Just got a Satori three weeks ago. At 74 I have shot all kinds of bows. This Satori is the most consistent bow I have ever shot. I have the 17 inch with medium 40 and 35 pound limbs. Set it up with the forty maxed out at 44 lbs. shooting easton legacy with fifty grain inserts and old school Zwickey’s for a total weight of 475 grains. Like I said it’s the best recurve that I’ve ever shot.

What size limbs do you have. Do you find it catching brush and stuff while hunting on the ground or hunting outta a stand? I been really eyeing up ordering one the pass few weeks so prefect timing on the video. I'm a whitetail guy. I was lookin at the 17" riser with short limbs but after reading forum yesterday I'm thinking the 19" riser and short or medium limbs might be better

Hey Dylan, that's awesome. Good timing. I went with the 19 and Medium limbs. Obviously it's not going to work in some of the same tight spots that a compound would, but I never really found it to be too much of an issue. I just know what I have and if I need to trim and extra tree limb or two so I don't bump it, that's what I do. I think that 19/Medium combo is a good one to start with. The only other combination I'd consider would be the 17 with Long limbs. That will still give you the same length bow, but potentially a slightly better feel with those long limbs. Reach out if you have any other questions as you get into it and best of luck!

@jaredmills I see. Alright. Seems like everyone I talked to has said to go with like what you have. I was og looking at the 17" with short limbs but now more leaning with what you got or 19" riser with medium limbs

Are there any traditional options for a guy that has a 32” draw length?

Satori 21” riser with long limbs makes a 66” bow. I’m 31.5” dl and it’s actually one of the better bows a long armed cat can get without getting a custom bow with the poundage made to your dl. Most of the time with a lot of trad stuff it’s a crap shoot with what poundage you’re gonna end up with when you start getting over 30”. The next big issue is getting arrows long enough. There’s a few out tho. Reach out to Jared if you have any questions etc. I’ll be glad to help.

@@bigmike8443 thanks for the info. I have a 31-31.5 DL and was wondering if the 21” riser with long limbs would be smooth. So hard to find any intel on bow setups for anyone with a 31+ DL

My First recurve deer was 1967 at age 14. Howatt 62" 45lb. Funny how yardage was never a thought back then unlike today where hunters will not venture out without a range finder. Compounds were not legal here in PA until 1974. rangefiners came along much later and were about as accurate as guess in a windstorm. That first deers antlers won't even stir a kettle of soup but traditional archery pulls one into a whole slower more fulfilling experience. If I ever harvested a PY buck with a recurve they would have to call the undertaker. Be well and will look for the footage of your PY.

Love it! That's cool. I would agree, although I have only killed turkeys so far with it, just shooting a recurve in general feels more fulfilling. Thanks for sharing!

I shoot at a lot of shoots in different states and have been shooting a bow for 45 years and have been shooting trad for 25 years. In my experience, most people do not have a 28 - to 29-inch drawl it is less it could be more for a lot, but their form is not right. Most people coming from compounds are going to drawl from 1 to 2 inches of drawl length less. Most shooters that say they have a long drawl if you watch them shoot and ask how long is there arrow they have inches more arrow sticking out the front of the bow then they schould because they do not drawl as far as they think. A friend of mine 6'3" he was shooting too much weight, (55lbs) was only drawling 26 or so inches less than I am at 5'7" because of form. He now shoots 45lbs is using better form, not perfect but better and hitting around 28" now. Both bows shoot the same speed, less weight, longer drawl = more weight shorter dawl. Also most people are not shooting 3under it is a good mix between the two I shoot split myself. Darren

I would like to know if the Satori limbs will get the same technology in the limb shape and profile of the Axia and Integra limbs. Those thin limb profiles of the Axia and Integra really make a big difference.

I dont know if i missed it but if the limb weight is measured with the tiller bolts loosed by 2.5 turns, how much weight does it increase if the bolts are tightened to the max?

Man I just stumbled on this, perfect timing. I was looking at crossbows for the last 2 weeks, and I decided to try a recurve instead. Still doing my homework, don't know much about them.

Awesome! I do think the Satori is the best option for someone just getting into it, mainly for the tuning and customization abilities. If you have any specific questions, feel free to reach out and I can try to help. Best of luck, I think you'll love the experience of shooting a recurve.

Any vertical bow is more rewarding than doing it with a cross bow. Great choice to go vertical.
