Getting a 1992 Briggs and Stratton 3.5HP Tiller engine running, had to clean / rebuild the pulsa jet carburetor on it. Runs good now, and doesn't smoke any. Thanks for Watching!!!

Sounds good! It must be satisfying to run and rev it smoothly. No knocks, no pinging, no hesitation. Starts as it should. That's money right there.

Hi from Melbourne, Australia. I picked up an old cylinder mower with this same engine and just wanted to say thanks for this vid, it's been a massive help getting it running again. I know bugger all about engines, but you made it all really straight forward, so thankyou very much. Cheers.

Thanks for the video! I fixed mine before I found this video! Mine was surging after the install of new gaskets/diaphram. I made sure every bolt was nice and snug,. Put the air filter back on it and its running smooth!!

That's a great running little engine, I have a 5 horse Briggs horizontal shaft on my Craftsman chipper/shredder and it has a pulsa jet carb on it, mine has a mechanical governor on it though but it runs great.

NICE little motor! They're SWEET! The 5 horse on the splitter gave me a FIT! It's a little newer with the plastic starter clutch pins but same carb setup but no adjustment. Wouldn't pump after several diaphragms. Drove me NUTS with no holes in the little siphon can on top. FINALLY found out that the pump spring had stretched! Opened it up a little and off it went. 1st time I ever saw that but I haven't seen it all either. Good video and pick me a tune!

@@fnaguitarplayer9 It was the goofiest thing I ever saw but if one gives you a fit, maybe that'll help. It sure cured the splitter motor. And any 'L' head is fine with me. I changed the oil in the Vanguard opposed and the 301 on the Gravely, getting them ready to go. Won't be long and keep on picking!

I had a 5hp briggs just like that. It burned a hole in the head because of a broken head bolt. I since replaced it with a predator 212 and what a difference that made!

Your video helped me a lot with my 1993 B&S motor on my lawn scarifier. However I have two issues where I hope you may help me out with some tips. Hopefully you still read this after all these years. My motor is the same as yours and I have a throttle on the handle with a wire pull. When I set this throttle to full, the small turning metal part with the governor spring is not turning all the way left until it's end stop. Thus the motor does not get to full speed. Is this normal? The other problem I have is with the shutoff wire. It is clipped into a small plate with copper contacts. The plate has a hole but I can not figure out where this needs to be fastened at. I believe somewhere near the turning part with the spring. Can you give me more details? Thanks for your help. Greetings from Germany.

Yep ways to add a drain valve One is braze it or fitting with nut and rubber seal The braze way works best and never a problem with leaking rubber
@HB-yq8gy2 жыл бұрын
Great video watched tons but, nobody states what to do after you replaced diaphragm & it starts to leak ? I’m guessing some type gasket sealer.

Good video! I have the same engine on a small tiller, go figure. I haven’t used it in years. I dumped the old gas out, flushed new gas through the tank, then filled it partially. Mine starts but dies when I go below half choke. Is there a jet to clean on these carbs? Thanks!
@magicone93272 жыл бұрын
Any info on newer style of this carb that uses a fixed air jet instead of this style with adjutable type?

Thanks for the video. I have the same carburetor which I inherited because screw had fallen into the inake and jammed the throttle valve which is located in the intake shaped like a disc. I got a new valve but not sure if it matters how it is faces. There are two scratch marks on it on one side.Are they suppose to indicate something?
@fnaguitarplayer93 жыл бұрын
Your welcome! Not sure, i've never noticed the marks before, as long as it works smoothly it should be alright, most of them have the screw holes offset so it can only go one way. Thanks for Watching!!!

Hi! I hope this message reaches you. I have a similar pulsa jet carb on my 3 hp Briggs, fixed jet and only adjustable for low speed fuel/air mix. It looks like similar on yours. Question: How many turns out is your needle valve? I have tried to adjust this so many different ways, but the engine still surges above idle. At full speed/throttle no surging since the fixed jet than "kicks in". I hope you know and can explain how to adjust the low speed needle in the best way. Thanks and cheers from Sweden!

Need your help sir as I am pulling out my hair at this point. I have a pulsa jet on an older bcs tiller. I rebuilt the pump blew out the ports I could see and or ran some brake cleaner through them. Used a rebuild kit to replace gaskets. I cannot get this sucker to idle to save my life. It runs fine mid to top range. Have the idle screw out 1-1/2 turns out from seated. So I’m kinda confused what’s happening or in this case not running right. Been at this project for two weeks off and on and shaking my head. Any help or words of wisdom would be greatly appreciated. Love your vids been helping me a lot.

Also put a new governor spring as the old one was stretched when I didn’t see it removing the tank from the unit.
@fnaguitarplayer94 жыл бұрын
sounds like a air leak to me, did you replace the gasket between the carburetor and block? Also if the throttle shaft is worn to much it will allow excess air in there too. Does it idle with half or 3/4 choke? if so then thats probably what it is. Thanks for Watching!!!
@AnPAirMech Жыл бұрын
The video was good, but you didn’t show hardly anything on how to install and connect the carburetor linkage.
@ronniegunter9127 Жыл бұрын
what r u using the engine on ? I've got that same engine for a murray go-cart and it has a different set up on the bottom of the gas tank
@Hjerte_Verke9 ай бұрын
Yours is probably a 4 or 5 HP with a mechanical governor with governor/throttle control under the gas tank. These smaller engines use an air vane governor.

Where might I find the service info on this type of engine? Is it stamped into a plate somewhere or on a sticker?
@fnaguitarplayer93 жыл бұрын
There will be a model type and code numbers either stamped into the metal flywheel housing shroud on the side towards the top or a small metal plate riveted on the front if its a newer one. Hope this helps, Thanks for Watching!!!

Dunk the tank in pancake syrup. Roll it in pure DIRT. Then open the engine up trying to repair it. Where do you think all that GRIT and sand is going? That's right class, inside the engine. What does grit and sand do to an engine class? That's correct, it wears it out. Summation: CLEAN THE ENGINE BEFORE OPENING IT UP. These pure to the bone lazy Millennials crack me up.
