Having a good strong bucket is extremely important on a farm. I can remember as a kid .. first thing my dad did when he bought his AC 210 was cut the bucket off and build a nice big strong one. That was in 1973. It's still moving crap today.

Nice video, I had the exact same thing done to my 05 Massey 1533. Yep, it cost a few dollars to convert to a QA but I also had 3rd function valve added for a grapple. Makes you wonder why we waited so long to get a grapple doesn't it? Also put a piranha tooth bar on bucket to dig into dirt. I did no work since I have no welding skills or equipment. You might want to cut out a bigger portion of that angle iron and grind it down real smooth since you have to get hands on the lock levers. Sometimes when you're out working we move a bit too fast and that's when those jagged edges get you. Again, nice video and thanks for sharing.

Yep, nice tool. I was looking at the ratchet rake several months ago when I had to clear an acre of thickly wooded land. I actually did the job by hand with loppers, chain saw, snips, bow saw, and a lot of sweat. Whew, it was a bear but a super workout. In fact, I'm getting tired by reliving the moment (chuckle). You ought to do a video getting into some thick stuff with your ratchet rake. Be safe out there.

Thanks for sharing,, I accidentally left one side of my ATI quick attach lever unlatched.. the darn bucket in hinged itself, of course, and torqued the alignment of the lever plates.. Another thing I’ve got to fix.. Any recommendations..

I would use a fixed object (tree or something like that) and chain between the tree and the bent place. Try to use the tractor hydraulics to bend it back. Small movements so you don't over do it. Or (depending on which way it's bent) push against the tree with the tractor and try to bend it back in place. Might be tricky, but it could work. I have a bent bar on my QA too. Not bent bad. Still works. I need to do the same thing, but sounds like yours may be worse than mine. Let me know how it goes. If/when I bend mine back I'll try to video it and post it. Hope that helps

Just a suggestion - on that angle iron that was "notched out" - cut end corners to a full angle and box the end over with plate. Looks like stitches waiting to happen, (been there). Nice Enjoy !

have you noticed any performance issues since converting? or is it as strong and durable as it was before?
@BIGALTX
@BIGALTX 7 жыл бұрын
Seems as strong. There is a little difference in the height of the bucket when it's down all the way. It doesn't quite touch the ground. In the video, I discussed how to account for height... and I put mine as low as I could... but it still needs an inch or so to touch the ground. That hasn't presented a problem yet, though.

I'm assuming you installed adapter plates on loader and brought it up to modified bucket for tack welding. It would have been nice if they had outside flanges for bolting on bucket instead of welding. I think you increased the $ value of your tractor, not to mention the convience. Good job!

you could cut the wedge at a nice 45 degree angle and weld a nice little plate to cover the hole, it shouldn't cost more than 2 or 3 hundred bucks.
@TheBrushcutter
@TheBrushcutter 4 жыл бұрын
And it would work as a brace for strengthening the bucket. But c'mon man, $2 or 3 hundred??? Somebody's getting screwed if they pay that kinda money for capping those angles. I'd do it for a hundred and make bank! Say that's a 3x3 angle, cut a 3x3 plate of desired thickness, Mark and cut diagonal. Trim the angle iron on the bucket, clean all and weld. No rocket science there.

Well that's now easier than our John Deere attach. Instead of levers I have two pins to insert. Switching attachments (say forks to bucket) is about 10 minutes or so. I see your new toy is a root take front attachment. Great for logs and sifting dirt. Do you have thumbs on it too? If so that's nice!

+TexasPrepper2 Yeah we don't have one for the Deere, but the Skid steer has two size rakes. 8' and 6' rakes.The 8' we use mainly when doing burn piles, pushing in and sifting chunks out of dirt and ash. But for instance you could chainsaw down some small trees (locust maybe) and then use the rake to pick them up and deposit them elsewhere. They are handy "big hands" on equipment.

I've done it like this, cut off the old pin plates and re use them. It's a lot cheaper, but it's also a LOT of work and time. Decide what is more important to you. You need to be a very good welder, and good at cutting with a torch, or plasma cutter. Expect to invest 2 to 3 full days to completion if you are not an experienced fabricator. Regardless of experience, this is never going to be a 2 hour project.

@pbgd3
@pbgd3 3 жыл бұрын
@@bellydump-hf7ec bahahaha indeed. Where he could a saved money is if his nephew is a good weldor they sell the tractor side plate for about 200 bucks where you take those tabs you cut off the bucket take two pipes that fit through the lines and line them all up and go to town with an angle grinder till they're pretty flat then pin them on the tractor and weld the plates to your original tabs. This saves a ton of money because the tractor side can be 800 to 2400 bucks depending on if it's a common loader or not. But when you do this it is very critical that you put the bucket flat and level and then idle up to it and mark the top of the attachment bracket on the bucket then mark 2" above that for where you weld the plates in. You want to be able to go about 2" below grade with a flat and level bucket to ensure that the bucket can engage ground with power down and a level bucket. If you mount too low you have to extend your cylinders to lower the front of the bucket to engage ground and we all know you want to have the bucket as curled as possible when doing heavy bucket work.

why in the world would you use the rod with less strength for a root pass then put the stronger 7018 on top. Here is a welding tip. ditch the 6011. do one real good pass with the 7018. if your not that good practice on scrap till ya are.
@ArturoGarzaID
@ArturoGarzaID 4 жыл бұрын
6011 is a deep penetrating electrode, it also works better on worn metals. On a root the 6011 helps with getting inside reinforcement with less slag. Pipe welders do it all the time. 6010/6011 root and 7018 over.
