My dad is from the Congo and I have loved pondu since I was young... however, I never learned how to make it until I found this video. I add a splash of Louisiana Hot Sauce (blame it on my Texas upbringing) when I'm eating and it is magnifique! Thank you for such an easy-to-follow recipe, it's amazing - coming from someone who doesn't typically enjoy cooking. 😁

I'm going to try this though I'm not Congolese. There are a few tried and tested cooking techniques that would.make this even more delicious, for example, caramelizing your onions in some of the palm oil before blending, using freshly cooked beef or fish instead of canned, and replacing the water in the blender with genuine meat stock.

@letsCOOKwithELLE
@letsCOOKwithELLE 7 жыл бұрын
Elle J You can take it out of the freezer early on the day that you're going to cook it so it can defrost then wash it. To be honest it also depends on where you buy it from, some stores clean it very well that you barely need to wash it.

I'm doing that in Florida, USA. Only a few little plants, but it's more leaves than I can use! Pull off the stems, grind the leaves up in a blender with some water. It's very green! Other than that, I'm following different KZbin instructions. Picking the leaves seems to make the plant grow more! I tried thickening it with a Mexican paste ("Pipian") made of pumpkin seeds and sesame seeds and stuff, it was delicious. Maybe more original than peanut butter? From the Mexican section of any Wal-Mart, or of course Latin markets. Sometimes you find the red palm oil in Asian markets. It lasts me a long time!
