That *** was a huge tip for me. I agree, they really should be showing everything by default, or at least give people a button that says see all, or simply browse all. PS... Before learning about how to do this, I used a Bin inside my DaVinci Cloud Power Bin with some folders that say things like Intro Music, etc.
@Kelgorr9 ай бұрын
Very thorough video thanks! I was hoping to swap from power bins but I feel that being able to organise the media with sub folders is more useful than the longer waveforms at least for me personally. I do prefer the way that it scans in new files as opposed to manually dragging media into the power bins however.
@JasonYadlovski9 ай бұрын
Thanks! Yeah, I think each has its benefits. Just depends on how you like to use it. I use both, but probably use powerbins more. I wish the power bins were dynamically linked to the folders they pull from so I don't have to drop in assets in all the time.

Hey Jason! Amazing and very informative video man - well done! I've also been using the sound library for a while but I have I'd say a love-hate-relationship with it, for a super simple reason: Let's take my SoundFX top folder - everything is really thoughtfully laid out with sub-folders like a folder for all risers, a folder for all 808's, a folder for all whooshes, another one for impact hits, etc - and within those folders are even more subfolders to really categorize those sound effects so I have an easy time searching through - I really hope BM will improve this sound library to represent the exact folder structure used so we can have it as categorized within resolve as we have on our harddrives! But maybe that's just me:D
@JasonYadlovski Жыл бұрын
Hey Sebastian! Thanks for checking out the video! I totally agree with you, I think the sound library can use some more work to make it easier to use and be able to organize it better or search it easier. Hopefully, BlackMagic will continue to update it, they seem to give us what we want in time and are always making Resolve better and better for us.

Exactly, same here. I was excited to see how to implement this but let down because I really need some type of organization method. Despite that, great video! Thanks! Hopefully this will be implemented soon because having a library would clean up my workflow.

Perfect video thx! I didn’t understand just one thing: if on my Mac (internal ssd) I have a 30gb EFX folder, is it better to use local database or create a new one? Thanks!
@JasonYadlovski3 ай бұрын
If you wanted to have the FX as their own sound library, you'd need to make a separate database for it. It can still be on your local drive if you wanted, just name the database something different and only have it for your FX. I make all my projects in one database, but I have a few databases for different music/FX libraries.

Looks like a nice feature, but the way it is implemented now is a bit complicated... Especially the three 🌟🌟🌟 thing! I think it is maybe a better idea to connect it to a bin, so you can also organize it in subfolders. In the end there is no difference between accessing video content or accessing music content. any tip on how to easily rename files before importing them into the sound library? The beginning of the file should show its most distinctive info because that's what you see inside of the library when in daVinci, but as far as I've seen the file names usually go from generic info at the beginning of the name to get more detailed towards the end (e.g. cinematic sound effects_horror_zombie_death sound.wav) so if the name is too long you won't its most distinctive parts, any suggestion? Thanks in advance
@JasonYadlovski Жыл бұрын
I totally agree with you on the names of the files. I wish they were more descriptive sometimes or were easier to search. Since all of the files are different sounds, I don't think there is a way to batch rename everything with a name that corresponds to what the actual sound is.

How do you link audio and video of gopro footage and other footage? This way when you drag it into the timeline it doesn't put the audio at the end of the timeline. Ah, true that’s right, good call. Well, you could put all of the assets into a power bin, then you would just have to re-create the effect in the timeline, but at least all of the assets would be at one spot. Or you could make a template project that you always start with which has your effects and sound design already built into it, then you can just move it wherever you need to.
