Great content. One quick question though! All the eLearning projects that I've ever done have been around internal company trainings, so the content was always confidential and therefore I cannot share any of it on my portfolio (bound by NDA). What do you suggest I share on my portfolio apart that? I know the ID methodologies/models that I used + the problems that I solved + project management methodologies that I implemented and so forth. Do you think that could help?

Yea, same issue here. I think there’s a huge misunderstanding by recruiters about this. Ask me about my process. The end result will vary widely based on so many factors. Companies are eliminating a huge swath of qualified people…

Thank you so much Devlin for all these useful information. I would like to create my ID portfolio, but my question is: how can I create a website including my projects if they are created with storyline? I mean, I can export the project as an SCORM package, I also have a link to storyline review tool to see the project, but how to embed the projects in a website? I am not sure if you were proposing only including screenshots of the projects, so the interactivity, animations, videos, etc. are not visible there. Thank you very much for your clarification!😊
@DevlinPeckYT2 жыл бұрын
Hi Mar! You'd export the Storyline project for the web, and then upload the HTML package to a service like Amazon S3 to get a public-facing link. Watch my "How to Upload & Share eLearning Projects" video to see how to do this :D

Hi Devlin, around the 4 min mark you mentioned flagship projects and creating scenario based elearning projects. How would you create them on rise?
@DevlinPeckYT3 жыл бұрын
Hi Zahra. I recommend creating your flagship project in Storyline since it’s the industry standard authoring tool and showing off skills in that tool will give you more credibility for so many of the roles out there. However, Rise has scénario blocks and you could also identify a real-world use case where a Rise project would help 😃

Thank you for all of your informative videos! I feel like I’ve landed in the right place at the right time. I’ve recently completed my Ed.D. in the Design of Learning Environments and I’m looking to get into ID. My current position at a university involves designing in-person learning for students in television production…but not in the classroom setting. Would you recommend I create my portfolio with some of the learning and training modules I created for face-to-face learning and include some of the projects I created in my doctoral program? I’m looking to apply for ID positions at the university I currently work at

Hey there Devlin...I have watched 3 videos and now the Portfolio... Quick Question...How would I utilize Canvas pages or google pages that I created for lessons (I was the online teacher and team lead) OR s there a way? What do you think of using a work-related issue such as Students with similar demographics performing at lower standards scores than other comparable classes due to inadequate training in a specific subject? Would something like that work?
@DevlinPeckYT2 жыл бұрын
Hi Angelia! If you have permission to highlight your professional work, you could discuss your process and incorporate screenshots. That being said, it would probably be better to show off projects that use some of the in-demand tech, such as Articulate Storyline. Drawing inspiration from problems at your workplace is always effective, too, but I’d suggest designing a solution to help other adults / your coworkers (not for the students). This will help avoid any bias that teachers don’t know how to design learning for adults 😃

Can you upload Storyline files in Wix?
@DevlinPeckYT2 жыл бұрын
You cannot, but you can upload them to Amazon S3 and then link to them from Wix. There’s a video on the channel to help with that 😃

Thanks for the video, Devlin! Would it work if I create the portfolio as a Rise course (that also contains a Storyline block or two) and mention the Review 360 link in my resume? That way, the interviewer/recruiter can open the link to view the course I've created. Does that sound good?
@DevlinPeckYT4 жыл бұрын
Hi Anita. Creating your portfolio site with Rise is an option, and some people use that approach with their portfolios. This will give you less control over your look-and-feel and layout, but it could be a good option for getting something online quickly. However, I'd recommend against sending an Articulate Review link. It would be better to export your Rise course as an HTML package and then host it with a service like Amazon S3. You can learn how to do that in this tutorial: www.devlinpeck.com/tutorials/upload-storyline-to-web

@DevlinPeckYT4 жыл бұрын
Hi Chloe, why do you need to keep your portfolio password protected? I'd suggest having a public portfolio, and, if there's work that's more private, maybe show that off in a live call with your potential client or hiring manager.

Very helpful, thanks! I started down this path many years ago with a site like Wordpress but was dismayed to find out I couldn’t upload the fully interactive versions of my examples. Screenshots were allowed, but if I wanted to show interaction, I had to get another subscription to AWS in order to host my eLearning stuff there and then link to it in my portfolio. Or something like that...Has this changed? Or is there another way to tackle this?
@DevlinPeckYT4 жыл бұрын
Hi Margaret. It depends on whether you have access to your servers. With Wordpress, you should be able to access you servers directly (since Wordpress is just open source software that you would host on those servers). If you're using a tool like Wix, SquareSpace, or Webflow where you do not have direct access to the servers, you would host your content on a service like Amazon S3 and then either link to it or embed it. I pay like 15 cents per month total for the projects I have hosted there. Here's a tutorial that shows you how to upload to S3: www.devlinpeck.com/tutorials/upload-storyline-to-web Also, glad to hear that you found the content helpful :)

Hi Devlin! Thank you for replying to my previous question. I have another one for you. In regards to Wix/Squarespace, do these services allow me to upload my completed eLearning courses which then allows users to interact with that elearning course? Ideally, I would like the person to be able to experience the same thing that a student would experience. If sites like Wix/Squarespace doesn't allow this type of interaction, would recording my own interaction and then displaying it as video to the viewer still be okay or would this hurt my chances of finding employment? If so, do you know a program that allows me to video record my interaction which then allows me to share it on my webpage. Sorry I said one but it seems there is a few questions.
@DevlinPeckYT3 жыл бұрын
Hi Lukis. Good question. With a tool like Wix or SquareSpace, you will not have direct access to the servers where your site is hosted. Because of this, you cannot upload your Storyline / eLearning content directly. Instead, you can upload your projects to a different web server. Amazon S3 offers cheap and reliable hosting, and this is what most people use in this situation. Here’s a tutorial: www.devlinpeck.com/tutorials/upload-storyline-to-web. You can then either link to or embed this project on your site. You’re also more than welcome to record the interaction and share the video. If the video is well done, then this would still work in your favor. Let me know if you have any other questions 😊
@lukissmith54083 жыл бұрын
@@DevlinPeckYT Hi Devlin. Just to carry on with our conversation above. In regards to Amazon S3, essentially I can upload an elearning course to Amazon in which then is turned into a link that I can attach to my website? Is that about right? Thank you
@DevlinPeckYT3 жыл бұрын
@@lukissmith5408 correct! Think of AWS S3 as a server that can host your files...then you just grab a link to the launch URL for your course and can add that hyperlink to your website.
