I used Sully from Monsters Inc in my example, what's your fav furry creature? This is an example of how versatile Illustrator is. On the face of it, creating thin fur effects can seem really tough but if you know which features to combine it gets a whole lot easier.

Great tutorial. Thank you. How does this effect translate to printed materials?

Thanks! I'd always recommend with blends and gradients etc that you do test print to see how it translates in print. If you're going down a pro print route then make sure you get a print proof. Personally, I've found these effects to work fine in print, but it will depend on the colours used.

You should use the dark grey overlay in Adobe Illustrator/Photoshop (just for the yt-videos). Then its easier for the eyes too see whats going on because the white overlay is a little bit too bright. Also the most people use the gray overlay ;) But your videos sounds and also look professional! Keep it up! :)

Hey Paul, thanks for the feedback. The UI Darkness is very subjective, and in the past people have asked for the lighter UI to see the black cursor clearer on-screen. But as you mention, to work I personally prefer to use the Medium Dark UI as I find it most comfortable on my eyes.
