Thank you, Marly, for your excellent videos! I am a self-taught left-hand crocheter. I think I was 12 when I picked up my first hook. I learned to use whatever free patterns I could find and never knew until recently that there was such a thing as *left-handed patterns*. I cannot use a left-handed pattern to save my life! Okay so now for my first dumb question of the day… can you use any other variegated yarns as *two colors* like you did in this video, or is it only certain ones, and what is the secret to it? Thanks in advance for any help/advice.

I was gifted 3 skeins of zebra yarn last year , we don't have it in the uk and I have used it for lots of different things ! I'm totally gutted ! I'll have to wait til my Dad goes back to the states . When my dad went to the states he said " we are going to be away for your birthday " I said that's ok " I would really love it if you could buy me some redheart supersaver " and he brought back 3 skeins of 3 different variegated yarns . I had no idea what I'd do with it? Mostly I made little boots they were lovely but I am really regretting them now lol . 🙆🏻😁 this is beautiful who knew I could have made tartans ( coming from Scotland 😂)

Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!! As usual, great tutorial. So glad you showed your finished product as I was having difficulty understanding the cowl section. I was wondering, is it possible to make the cowl in the argyle pooling effect as well? If do-able, how would you start that effect in the cowl?
@MarlyBird
@MarlyBird 7 жыл бұрын
You totally could do that. I think for ease of crochet, I would make the cowl separate in the PPArgyle pattern and then sew it to the poncho.

OH EMM GEEE! 😍 Thank You so Much for explaining pooling. Treating multi coloured sequence as one colour is quite interesting and I had thought about it for working my wildly varigated yarn and had attempted Planned Pooling with my multi coloured sequences in the yarn, prior to watching your video but I was making itty bitty mistakes that I never noticed before today that I was making because I never watched your video with concentration. I was skipping to the part where Argyle showed up. Now, I have to see if fixing these mistakes makes big difference and the Argyle pattern shows up or not. You mentioned working with J hook. I also crochet very tightly to the point that my stitches appear shrunken. But I have a DK Yarn which says 8 PLY on the sticker. Is J hook or any other size suitable for it? Thanks for answering! 💕

Hey thanks so much Marley for the Poncho planned pooling demonstration. I was wondering if you could do the same demo on a yarn that is in more colors other than the zibra yarn. I have several of the yarns that are listed to work for this technique. However I can't quiet get it to pool right. I was hoping that would help me with pooling the other colors. Thanks so much for all your help.

I am really having issues with this even if I follow the tutorial I end up shifting two across the next time i go the same way unless I fudge the endings of the rows. I have tried more than I once adding one crochet or removing one from the colour repeat and for sure in the middle of the rows it is working I get the patterns of lines but the ends I have to mess about and do some fiddling to make them work or the next row is going out of sequence. I am always one stitch out or stacking if I do the correct number of sequences and work exactly like this. I know to count the turning chains as a group tried that and tried not and I count carefully and change hook size to the wool colour swaps on the right place of the stitch so for example 3 red, three grey, 4 black, three salmon repeat when I get to the ends of the rows I have to mess about the number maybe 4 red or 5 black and even when I redid the foundation rows and crochet round the chains etc but still the ends I am having to be creative no idea why. I can do the moss stitch I am working in the correct stitches I count carefully where is the chain spaces and turning chains and yet it’s annoying me. OK it looks fine in the middle but I would love to figure out why I am. Having the issue

How important is it to crochet around the foundation chain rather than working into it? I started my argyle strip before the poncho pattern was released and just worked into the chain. I'm close to finishing my first skein, so I'm not terribly excited about starting over. I was planning to turn mine into a cowl, but this poncho is calling my name. Can I borrow your brain for a while? You're so creative. ;-)

Ever since the merger of Redheart.com to your inspirations.com some of the patterns are not linked up appropriately. We are working on getting this remedied. The link provided in the video description is the correct link for this pattern, however your inspirations.com has to link up the PDF. Hopefully that will be done soon. Thank you for your patience
